Driving From Rayong To Cambodia.

Featured Replies

I am thinking of taking a trip to Cambodia, as I have never been before. We live close to Rayong and were thinking of driving there. Has anyone here done this before and if so what were your experiences? Is it ok to drive a Thai registered vehicle in Cambodia? What’s the driving like there? I won’t be making the trip just yet, but need to plan in soon.

Thanks for any advice.

I drove years ago with a colleague of mine on motorcycles (a 125 cc...) from Rayong to Cambodia (Had Lek) for a visa run. We didn't cross the border with the bike, though, only walked over to the Cambodian side. Was good fun, but a bit long in the end - the trip was about 12 hours all in all. Got me a terrible sun-burn and couldn't sit for days.... :o

No need to go that far these days with the new crossing at Pong Nam Ron not far up the road from Chantanaburi to Sa Kieaw(sorry for the spelling but my map is not to hand) I think the turn was around 30 kilos up the road and then another 12 or so to the border post.Went very recently for a border run easy enough though they are in the middle of upgrading the road for 5 kilos near the new border post.
