Poll: Obama Leading Romney 49% To 46% Ahead Of Second Debate

Featured Replies

Bill Clinton continues to knock himself out for Obama and I'm scratching my head why? I realize that if Obama wins, he will owe Bill and Hilary big time, but what would he actually be able to deliver to the Clintons for Hilary's campaign that they don't already have? And, Hilary just took a bullet for him also on Bengazhi, so what's the deal?

The joint rallies underscore Clinton's role as perhaps Obama's most important surrogate in the tightly contested White House race with Republican Mitt Romney. In campaign events, television advertisements and a well-regarded speech at the Democratic convention, the former president has been a chief defender of Obama's economic record, winning praise for sometimes explaining that record better than Obama himself.

I think there's a few reasons and no doubt most or all self-serving (for one, don't overlook the importance to a guy like Pres. Clinton of being important and in a position to influence events politically). But I think it perfectly plausible and rational to think that maybe he genuinely does not want a Republican (perhaps especially Mr. Romney) to win.

He may mean to say that in Pattaya a bar owner can pick what kind of beer he has on tap and what laundry he uses. In Chicago the city government tells you.

Obama is not going to be baited by a self-aggrandizing grandstander like Trump. What's next: Trump demanding Obama sign a form stating; "I am not a homosexual, I am not a paedophile, I have never stuck a knife in a sidewalk beggar." Trump would shout from his soapbox: SEE, OBAMA DIDN'T SIGN IT, THAT MEANS HE'S A HOMO, A PAEDO AND A MURDERER!

An ideal world would be one in which Obama could just say,"Go <deleted> yourself Donald", and be applauded for it. Sometimes that's the only thing there is left to say to someone when they persist in deliberately and willfully behaving like a complete and utter fool.

Man, that is so, so true.

If only...

Bill Clinton continues to knock himself out for Obama and I'm scratching my head why?

I'm guessing that the Democratic party have asked him to do it and having them in his debt is lot more important than his dislike for Obama.

My opinion is that Bill Clinton loves politics and campaigning and the IDEALS of the democratic party more than his rather obvious coldness towards Obama PERSONALLY. Clinton is no dummy. He knows what a Romney regime means for poor people, for the uninsured, for abortion rights, for the supreme court, for civil rights, etc., etc.

I have to comment on the understatement (not that it matters): even some of his worst critics and any creditable analyst of such things agree: Bill Clinton is very, very smart (even if like anyone including smart people he does really dumb things sometimes -- especially, like many men, when it involves his penis)

According to Twitter, Obama has a virtual monopoly on the racist vote. There are many of them declaring they will riot if that white guy wins in November.

Sorry, was that a joke?

According to twitter?

There are many of THEM?

Well, most are just about assassination but there are a lot about rioting as well. A long list for you to read here.

http://www.infowars....de-after-debate

Imagine the play something like this would get on the news if it were about rioting is Obama wins? Of course, if they threaten to assassinate the President that's a different story and would result in arrests.

Oh, lordy...from Twitter as a source to Alex Jones?! I suppose I'm sort of obligated to respond since I (foolishly) replied to the original ridiculous post.

1) A list of twitter posts proves ZERO about anything at all.

2) It can not and does not show a "virtual monopoly on the racist vote". It shows that there are supposedly some stupid black people ---- along with some stupid white people -- who made stupid comments about rioting or killing Romney. Nothing to show that these comments aren't fake. Nothing to show that the people making them are racists. Nothing to show that there aren't as many or more racists who will vote for Romney.

Ridiculous. Utterly and totally ridiculous.

It's a helluva lot more proof than is out there that people against Obama are racist.

Former candidate McCain was born in Panama. Right wingers didn't flip out over that. Shwarzenegger was born in Austria, yet right wingers tried to get the law changed to enable him to run for prez. I was born in Denmark, yet became an American at 8 yrs. Sorry folks, I can't run for prez of the US. whistling.gif I'm going to file it all under 'whistling up the wrong tree' or 'pissing down the wrong leg.'

Maybe, but it's very telling that even with Clinton's massive popularity backing him, President Obama is still behind in the polls to the challenger.

Obama is not liked because of his liberal belief system and his failure to improve the economy. In general, his race has very little to do with it.

He knows what a Romney regime means for poor people

Jobs, finally!

Yeah, self-sufficient working people have less need for free gov't handouts making them less likely to vote Democrat in the future.

Former candidate McCain was born in Panama. Right wingers didn't flip out over that.

He was born on an American military base in the Panama Canal Zone. His father was in the Navy and the Panama Canal Zone was under US control. He is a natural born American citizen.

Being born to two American citizens on a US Naval base, on territory under US control (Panama Canal Zone), son and grandson to four-star Admirals in the US Navy doesn't ruffle the feathers of Americans, especially right wingers. If only all our presidents could have such a distinguished pedigree.

It's a helluva lot more proof than is out there that people against Obama are racist.

No it's not "more proof". It's no proof of anything whatsoever. It's an incredibly weak attempt to shift any possible criticism of people who don't like Obama to people who do support him. It so partisan and lame (as is the source) you should be embarrassed.

And how can you assert that there isn't as much or more so called proof of the same caliber have racist attitudes towards Obama. I am certain it could be found but I personally wouldn't stoop to trying to find it (twitter posts from Alex Jones...what would be the equivalent? Nothing I'd read, that's for sure, and certainly nothing I'd look for or lend credence to).

By the way, I never claimed there was any proof of such racism nor did I ever suggest that everyone or anyone against Obama was a racist. That would be an utterly stupid thing to say -- and I make a consistent though not always successful attempt to avoid saying stupid things. It would also be something only a person incapable of any semblance of objectivity -- like the sort seen on this thread -- would say.

I know, I just wanted to point out the absurdity of hounding Obama on the birth certificate thing. It's still no put to rest, even with the long form having been released. Trump is still blowing his horn and whining, like a blustering spoiled fat kid at a party who didn't get the biggest piece of birthday cake.

You -- and I -- have absolutely no way of ascertaining how true that is. (And given that by no means all of the criticism is based on those two things, one can't assume it is).

VERY telling? Really? Do you think a single supporter can typically guarantee a lead in the polls? Can you think of an example (In any election but particularly one so closely fought and at a time of such division).

Me, I'm not so sure.

I've no time for Birthers but it's not analogous: McCain was clearly eligible. If Pres. Obama had been born in Kenya or Indonesia or whatever foreign land they imagine, he would not be.

Yeah, self-sufficient working people have less need for free gov't handouts making them less likely to vote Democrat in the future.

Hmm, so the Americans that benefited from the Obama administration policies that included tax cuts for small businesses, an extension of unemployment benefits for those that had lost their jobs, the students that saw an improved loan program once the middlemen bankers were cut out ouf the process, the elderly, sick and young that finally gained access to affordable health care, the state and local governments that obtained grants for infrastructure, large employers that saw the government pursue a more vigorous and successful enforcement of trade law enforcement, naval shipyards and suppliers that saw an increase in the navy when compared to the previous Bush administration, the US military personnel that were removed from warzones and taxpayers that saw the financial drain of multiple wars contained , homeowners that were able to refinance their mortgages and financial consumers finally protected from the worst excesses of Wall street are all less likely to vote Democrat

Well, we'll see about that.

It's funny that Trump is one of the major spokespeople for Republicans and Right Wingers. He touts himself as a self-made multi-millionaire to anyone who will listen. Yet, there was a time when he had an Atlantic City casino which was inches away from going under (from bad management, too many loans, had missed too many interest payments, I don't know) and it was Trump's father who bailed him out. Yes, good ol' dad bought a million dollars of chips and put them right back through the purchase window. Voila, instant money from dad. Doesn't quite fit with the image of Mr. Self-made, great chief exec that Trump paints for himself, though.

Maybe, but it's very telling that even with Clinton's massive popularity backing him, President Obama is still behind in the polls to the challenger.

I've been trying to just lurk around here lately because these arguments never get anywhere, but to shed a little light on the subject of polls Gallup has for some reason been showing poll results way out of conformity with the many other respected polling agencies. This having been said however the latest Gallup numbers as reflect today (October 25) US time show Obama leading Romney among registered voters 48% to 47% and Obama gaining on the slim lead Romney holds among likely voters (however they determine who they are) 50% for Romney to 47% for Obama. All other major polls show Obama leading in both categories:

Well, we'll see about that.

Yes we will. On November 6. Don't forget the 25,792,000 Americans who are unemployed and underemployed.

It's funny that Trump is one of the major spokespeople for Republicans and Right Wingers.

Please show us just where Trump has been named as a spokesperson for the GOP? I dare you. In fact, I double-dog dare you.

Being a free country, any lunatic with enough money can buy air time and voice their opinion. Even if they make a fool of themselves. You know, free speech and all that guff.

All other major polls show Obama leading in both categories:

Actually, the Real Clear Politics average of all the major polls has Romney slightly ahead - in the exact same position that he has been for days. Obama is not "gaining".

The title for this thread is deceptive and inaccurate at best. The poll numbers have been moving all over the place, but the general consensus as of TODAY is that Romney is in the lead in all major polls, with the exception of 2 swing states.

Trump is a spokesman for no one but himself and maybe some fringe bigots and morons; while his professed views conform with that of many of those opposed to Pres. Obama, it's a stretch to call him anyone's representative.

He's a fool. The fact that there are plenty of those (on both sides of the political divide) is merely a coincidence.
