Englishman caught-up in fatal road crash in East Pattaya

PATTAYA:--In the early hours of Thursday an English resident was involved in a fatal road crash close to the Maprachan Reservoir in East Pattaya but was judged not to be at fault.

Police were called to the location of the crash, in front of Soi Pornprapanimit 27, involving a motorbike with side-car and a further bike driven by Mr. Stanley Laight aged 59 who sustained minor leg injuries. The deceased person was riding as passenger in the side-car and was named as Khun Lop aged 60.

The driver of the offending vehicle, who was believed to be driving in the centre of the road, causing the side-car to cross over the opposing lane is Khun Ning aged 47 who also sustained leg injuries but was suspected of being drunk which was later confirmed with a blood-alcohol test at Banglamung Hospital. Mr. Laight was not detained after track marks confirmed he was driving in a normal manner.
