AoT airports perform well

by Paphada Apimonton

BANGKOK, 19 October 2012: Six airports under Airport of Thailand’s management delivered positive performances for both aircraft movements and passenger traffic in September with just a slight drop in domestic passenger traffic at Phuket International Airport.

Total aircraft movements at the six airports in September improved by 10.93% from 35,830 aircraft movements to 39,747, while passenger traffic also increased by 8.98% from 5,165,499 to 5,629,117.

At Thailand’s main gateway, Suvarnabhumi Airport reported positive performances in September. International aircraft movements were up 6.62% from 17,776 to 18,952 and domestic movements increased 14.91% from 5,694 to 6,543 when compared to the same month last year.

International passenger traffic improved 7.31% from 2,956,650 to 3,172,790 while domestic traffic increased 12.87% from 773,188 to 872,685.

Phuket International Airport registered positive performances except for a slight drop in domestic passenger traffic.

International aircraft movements were up 11.52% from 2,126 to 2,371 movements, while domestic movements increased just 0.83% from 2,170 to 2,188.

International passenger traffic registered a double-digit increase of 14.63% from 282,883 to 324,282. Domestic passenger traffic slipped 0.34% from 310,690 to 309,635.

Swampy is abysmal in its AOT control of passenger traffic. Moving walkways stopping passengers from entering by security, exits blocked about 1 in 3 being open. AOT favoured vehicles parked on the inner lane at the airport, external footpaths blocked when trying to access the doors because the one in front of you is blocked, so you have to walk on the road to get to gate 10 from 6, etc., then trying to read the flights on the huge boards is blocked from the public because of (?). And then only the banks, AOT Limos, TAT and Phone providers allowed within exiting passengers areas blocking traffic etc. This report is utter BS and AOT as 'managers' and about as efficient as the Flood Administration. Don't let me get started on Immigration within...

Could Don Muang absorb all air traffic into Thailand?

Stupid question I know BUT....

The reason I am asking is because every year posters here scream numbers are down (usually their friend who owns a farang bar told them so). Suvarnabhumi only opened 5 years ago , if the increase this year is a lie, and last year it was also down because of the flood, and the year before that because of the red shirts and before that the yellow shirts.... then passenger numbers, according to TV experts, should be lower than when Don Muang was the only airport.whistling.gif

Well, you see, all reports of any increase in economic-related activity are totally false. The opposite is true. In fact the re-opening of Don Muang was merely a sign that SV is having such little traffic, despite fantasies of long immigration lines reported by some delusionals here, and false reports of a new runway, that it will soon be closed. In a few years it will be a mere ruin, bones drying in the sun.

Good thing is you can expect no immigration lines at all here in DYING THAILAND and won't encounter any traffic on the deserted streets on your way to one of the few hotels still open. Book well in advance to be sure your hotel hasn't already closed.

So with all this increase traffic we will see a huge rise in the profits of AOT or will it be business as usual the usual skimming from Government Officals.

Why should you care when you and any other shareholder could have more than doubled your money if you'd just invested in shares last year? Would that be sufficient profit for you?

It's amazing how this could have happened with all the decrease of air traffic in Thailand owing to its slow death. Everyone's just stupid, believing in the dying airports, except for some of our smartest posters who know so much better: they wisely avoided getting an totally imaginary 131% return and got a very real 3% or less on their bank deposits.

Thank goodness we have such knowledgeable members!

Everything in the Swampy garden is rosy ... forget about the major disruption caused earlier this summer by resurfacing a runway many years before it ought to have been necessary ! rolleyes.gif

Well leaving all that aside what do you see for tourism in Thailand in the near and distant future?whistling.gif
