Having to make the horrible decision to find my dogs a new home. We are moving back to the UK soon and I was planning on taking them with me. I had just paid 25,000 baht for the travel cages and had done all the blood tests etc.

A number of things have happened since though that have forced me to change my mind. The idea was they were going to be sent to England before we left then go live with my sisters mother in law until we found somewhere to live as I will be living with my parents when I get back so the house will already be crowded with my parents their dog, me and my wife and our 1 year old son. This was ideal for us but since she has changed her mind. Not only that but because the cages I ordered were slightly bigger than I got a quote for the quote for cargo has now gone from £1200 to £3100 + £400 delivery in UK. I was about to pay this but now they want me to travel on the plane too.

All this has brought me to the horrible decision of trying to find my 2 lovely dogs a new home.

Their names are Micky and Minnie, they are brother and sister. He has had the snip and she has too (not sure what the female version of this is called) they are 2 years old, I bought them in Samui when I lived there, we then moved to Surin and finally they have been living with us here in Pattaya for the last year or so.

They are very friendly dogs, very playful and active. They love children, my 1 year old crawls to the door to let them lick his face which he finds highly amusing. They have gotten on with other dogs, in Surin they lived with a pug and here they stayed with another young lab for a while. They do like to bark at dogs walking past their house though through the gate. They love to play ball and I take them to the beach all the time, Minnie loves to swim and Micky loves sprinting on the sand. They are a great double act.

I am looking for someone to offer them a good home and would take very good care of them. Preferably live in a house that has a surrounding wall. I am almost willing to drive to anywhere in Thailand to find these dogs the right home. I would supply a few months worth of food also. They havent spent a single minute of their life apart which is why I really want them to go to the same home.

If anyone is interested or knows anyone who maybe please get in touch.

Here are a few photos:

This is when we first got them just a few months old

Very nice dogs.smile.png

Regarding the Transport, you can find another Transport agency, check the net extensively!

Regarding the dogs, you not mentioned, the quarantene, so the dogs will be for 6 month anyway be cared off, no need, for sister, or?

http://www.pettravel...ion/England.cfm

"Pet cats, dogs and ferrets entering England from a country with a high incidence of rabies will be quarantined for a period of six months in England."

Also its expensive, you could try to find a better, cheaper way of transport, even with above LINK, but its worth the afford if you really like your dogs.nt

They want to be with you, also after the six month. I just saw a documentation about such a England situation.

But still, dogs and owners, where happy, to be together again!

The long 6 month fast forgotten.

Not give up so fast, fight a bit more for your dogs, thank you, in the name of your beloved dogs.

They are so beautiful.

And you're right they shouldn't be seperated and being so happy together they would probably fare better than a single dog in quarantine if that were deemed neccessary but it seems that as of January the quarantine laws in the UK have been relaxed somewhat and it's just the 3 month wait after the blood tests.. Maybe you can find someone to accompany them on a flight as excess baggage (I think that's what Soi Dog do for their adopted dogs heading abroad, perhaps it cuts out the agency fees?) and then board them in the UK until you're settled. Place an ad and offer a fee maybe? Perhaps your family could pick them up at the airport and take them to a boarding kennel.

Just some ideas as I'm sure you want to do as much as you can to keep them with you

If not I hope someone who can offer a loving home sees those photos, they'd be lovely dogs for a family to adopt! 2 years old past the awkward puppy stage where they demand a lot of potty/obedience training etc and as you say they have a proven track record with a very small child, that bodes well.

I wish you the best of luck whichever way it goes, I understand how difficult it must be.

Ooohh, I'm so sorry! This is horrible for you and your family.

As said above, John Dalley at Soi Dog Foundation may be able to advice you on cheaper options, but it may include the mainland first and then by road to the UK.

I wish you all the luck in the world, that you still will find a way to bring your dogs home.

Hi there,

The laws have changed a lot recently, they dont have to spend any time in quarantine as long as you do a rabies blood test, send it to an EU lab and they confirm that they dont have rabies, after the date of the blood test you have to wait 3 months then you can enter the UK and not go through quarantine. I am currently trying to explore other routes and options, I am trying my best to be able to keep them I have been so looking forward to getting them back to england and taking them to the beach and woods sad.png

I'd like to take them, but I heard that a lot of labrador owners go blind!! No seriously, I know these 2 dogs very well and I know how it must be breaking your heart mate...wasn't so long ago they were pups jumping all over my pug up here in Surin. Best of luck finding a good home for them.

I have a 7 year golden retriever and two, 5 year old shih tzus - all 3 since they were puppies - and I was planning to get a young golden or Labrador in a couple of years or so - before my Golden gets into her dotage..

The reason I have two shih tzus is because when I went to buy one from the breeder, I found two little male 'cousins' who had been together since they were puppies and I couldn't bear to separate them. So I understand only too well about separating brother and sister.

At a pinch, I could possibly take one of your labs, but not both, but to be honest it's a bit early for me to acquire a new family member.

However, if you get really stuck, I might be able to look after them for you on a temporary basis as a last resort, until a suitable home is found.

Good luck

You must feel devasted at your change of circumstances

We arrive in Surin from the UK mid December where we are having a house built which will be finished end January, if this fits with your timing I would willingly take the 2 labradors.

We will have a walled plot of 1 rai

Thank you for the replies as for the timing I am not too sure when we can go, it all depends on her visa really and how long that takes to go through. I am waiting on mine and my sons passports to come back from hong kong so once they arrive back I will start the visa process. The dogs are free to a good home, I dont want money for them all I want is for them to have the best life they can.

When they stayed in the user surin who posted above house they had a lot of land to play in, the female used to love swimming but the problem was they would escape near enough every day which is why I would prefer them to stay somewhere that has a wall surrounding the grounds.

I have just pmed Rizla about them now.

.Cheers

Please see my posting #12 above.

I am interested

I will ask your friend nr Surin if he would send you my e mail address and I would be grateful if you could keep me in the picture

I have decided that I am going to keep 1 of them and find the other a good home.

Reason for this is that the female is really attached to us and almost demands human attention, the male would be friends with anyone, man, woman, child or another dog. Each time they have been with another dog in a group of 3 its always the female that gets left behind and ignored and the male and his friend go off and play together.

So I am looking for a home now for 1 male 2 year old Lab, preferably a home with another dog for them to play together or if alone to live with someone inside a house who can give him the attention he would need being on his own.

If anyone is interested please let me know.

Cheers

Ok? You have an update? rolleyes.gif

Read posts 17 & 19.

Not much more to say is there?

Reading the sentence in -JusticeFT96- from 26.10. I would say, there is.

I got a PM Mail answer, as I contacted the OP also with a PM and it is OK, the male dog seems to do well in the new surroundings.

But -Mobi- now I understand better, how you come to 7.200+ Postings. rolleyes.gif

George gave me a 5,000 post bonus, for being 'poster of the year'biggrin.png

Seriously tho, I've been posting nigh on 7 years and I guess they add up.

I used to be much more active, but these days I just dip in and out every now now and again.....

Micky doing very well at his new home, looks really settled.

I arrived back in the UK with Minnie yesterday, her plane was delayed from BKK to Dubai so she missed the linkup with my plane so I had to go back to the airport later to collect her, she is well and happy, just trying to get her and my parents dog to get along, both spoiled and demand to be center of attention so its a battle for who will become the boss I think, they seem a lot calmer this morning.
