Name any one tourist destination anywhere in the world which is popular with most people and you will get the same.

Keep this in perspective please.

As unfortunate as it is, this stabbing of a Thai man took place "during a fight in a remote street in East Pattaya" (aka The Darkside because in the old days there wasn't much street lighting and perhaps still isn't in some places).

From a previous poster "Wasn't Pattaya going the be the prime location in Thailand to take your family on vacation?"

Would you say don't go to London because somebody was stabbed in some derelict area in the East End of London? Families visiting Pattaya would be unlikely to go to East Pattaya, unless they are visiting family/friends who live there.

Are you implying that people like to go on vacation and get stabbed? Popularity goes down with crime, not up.

Possum, you seem to be a lot of fun to be around. Not! Maybe if you are going to a suicide party.

This is not as bad as some think. 1) In the old days this would happen more often, but you would not know about it. 2) This can and does go on in any city, in any part of the world. 3) It is no more un-safe than certain places in NY, Chicago, Tulsa, Dallas, London, Paris, on and on and on. 4) The crime in Singapore is just not reported as they want to preserve their image of a safe place to vist.

With an average stay of just 3.7 days (2011, Singapore Tourist Board), I don't think so.

Sounds more like the sort of place you get out of quickly once you realise what you've done.
