Visa Needed For Baby?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I have a question I cannot find a firm answer for.

Our baby (Dutch nationality) was born on Koh Samui. We (that is the mother and myself) are both Dutch. Currently we are in the Netherlands visiting relatives, soon we will go back to Samui. I am having a Non-B visa in my passport. My question is: do I need a special visa for our baby, or can we just take him through Immigration for the 30 day 'visa' stamp?

I am asking this because I know that you don't have to do visa runs with a baby (they don't enforce the visa laws until children reach the age of 12 as far as I know), but can I get my son through Immigration without a pre-arranged visa?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts and advice!

A child/baby needs its own visa. Best it to simply apply for a non-O visa for the baby based on being your dependent.

Yes, a child doesn't pay overstay fees (untill age 15) but staying legal is always best. You neevr know how the policy will change in the future. Besides, the airline can require that the child has a visa or a ticket out within 30 days.
