Do you take a bank book or a statement from the bank saying how much money is in the bank? If I am transfering money into my bfs account so he will have like 60,000 baht when he applies for the visa, will this be a strike against him because the money has oviously been put there by me. I know this happens all the time so how do they view this? The bank account is in his name and there has been transactions for about a year but the 60 000 will have been deposited over two months. Sorry if this has been posted before. New here.

Hi meme,

Can you give us a bit of background, please? What nationality are you and your boyfriend and for which country are you applying for a visa for him?

However, in general terms, if the bank deposit is evidently for the purposes of bolstering a visa application, then it will be frowned upon.

Scouse.

Yeah, I guess that would help sorry. I bit absent minded obsessing about all the work ahead of us with the visa process. I actully posted my situation in this fourm under "getting my bf into Canada and the US" or something like that. I have posted a couple other questions as well under meme.

The problem is as you can see in the other post is that he makes a shitty wage so unless I helped him there would be no way he could ever have enough in the bank. Anyway before I ramble on just check out my other post. Thanks.

In my experience, and that of some of my friends, you needn't worry. The immigration people are only interested in the balance at the time. I don't believe they even look at the transactions in the account. They have never asked me for details, even when the page with the current balance had only one or two entries posted.

A friend was renewing his visa and didn't realize he needed the bank balance and a letter from his bank. He didn't have the cash to make a deposit. Fortunately, his lawyer was also a good frient and transferred money from hie (the lawyer's) account to my friend's. He then had his passbook updated and got the letter from the bank. Then, he transferred the money back to the lawyer's account. He had no problems at immigration.

Lanny,

We're talking at cross-purposes here. Meme is on about her Thai boyfriend showing his bank book to a Canadian visa officer rather than a westerner showing income to Thai immigration.

Meme,

The original advice stands, that the visa officer will want to see a regular income in to your boyfriend's account rather than a large one-off payment.
