I thought those smugglers were caught, sentenced and jailed already. The Myanmar government was really efficient, weeks ago.

I imagine the majority of reds would like to punch Thaksin at the moment for failing to bestow the gift of a Ministerial Position on Jatuporn The Fat. If there had have been a real plot, we would not have known about it until it was either a success or a failure. Also IMO if there was a real attempt on his life this coward would run faster than a Jack Rabbit and he wouldn't come anywhere near Asia for a long, long time. What about the tens of thousands of poor diehard red fans who planned on a border party with unlimited sticky rice and somtam? The buses have to be cancelled, hotel reservations cancelled, great disappointment all round.

If he's scared of appearing in front of a friendly audience in a northern border town, I imagine the dear man must have sleepless nights about his survival chances if he ever made it to Bangkok. However, he must be gratified that his offspring are concerned about his safety.
