Jai Dee
Mae Hong Son's Kaew Komol Cave has become increasingly popular Thousands of tourists are visiting Kaew Komol Cave, one of the well-known natural attractions in Mae La Noi District of Mae Hong Son Province. However, due to the cave’s limited space, officials have to regulate this overcrowded situation by allowing a group of 20 tourists to get inside the cave for 20 minutes each time. The head of the Kaew Komol Cave Park, Mr. Prayoon Thongsirikul, said the cave was discovered on the 10th of November, 1993. The internal condition of the cave is filled with calcites, particularly on its wall, floor and ceiling. The calcites come in various shapes and forms, and some of them resemble coral reefs, cabbages, snow flakes, ixoras, and lanterns. The natural beauty of this cave is invaluable and also important for further geological, mineralogy as well as crystalogy studies. Although an enormous number of tourists would like to get into Kaew Komol Cave, the space inside is very limited and it only shares one entrance and exit passage. Nevertheless, officials are able to satisfy the visitors by allowing a group of 20 tourists to get inside the cave for 20 minutes each time.
