If she's anything like my wife, she'll want something 'cute' like a Beretta Bobcat. I prefer a .410 autoloader shotgun,

using 00 buckshot.

I do prefer hollowpoints,

Here, you can get reloads using wadcutters.

These are all subsonic, low recoil.

The 25 or 32 acp will be hard to source here.

The most common handguns here are

- 9mm Glock

- 10mm Chinese

- 45 acp Colt

You will find these 3x the price from your home country.

Even used.

Ammo is also very expensive.

I suggest the .45 colt or .38 revolver.

Often a local BiB wants to sell theirs.

Do add a good grip (I prefer Hogue)

Take her to the local range to learn,

proper handling, stance, safety.

At the end of all of this,

you may find a .22 will suit needs.

Don't underestimate it.

Lots have been killed with one.

I personally have 4 Ruger 10-22 rifles.

One has a bull barrel and is a tack-driver at 50 meter.

a good post for sure, wife can use a 38 well,being small of stature,her grip and stance must be textbook in nature, but for her to draw a weapon from a holster, under duress well unless she becomes a sporting shooter,no one would know her capability.

watched a video before of Los Angeles street coppers,showing how difficult it was for them to draw their weapon to fire a shot at a knife wielding aggressor who was running at him at pace from about 30 metres, good training video for all people required to carry fire arms.

especially a handgun,

is difficult under the best of circumstances.

Unless you are well trained.

TEACH WIFEY TO USE IT, AND

low recoil,

at 3 meter,

Howto, the police gave me the exact same advice. Since then I have gotten a gun license.

However, they did add one thing. Pop a few rounds into the roof and say that you fired a few warning shots first but he kept coming...

Well, dissambled for inspect.

Barrel is perfect,

I say less than 25 rounds.

Has a

- full length stainless guide rail

- A McKormic Barrel locker

- Hogue Grips

- Recoil spring looks to be heavy duty,

certainly not stock.

- firing pin is perfect.

No signs of wear anywhere

Gives it to his father.

Father passes away during these holidays.

He inherits everything.

- 9mm

- 45

Of course you have to pay them a bit.

Then wifey can decide.

There is a good chance that

She may decide not to do it.

While there, be sure

to get a cost of the ammo per round.

It's really expensive

There are basic, intermediate and advanced (including shooting under duress, night and low light shooting, etc.) courses at the army gun range on Soi Latplakao 15 in Bangkok. Incidentally it's where I met my wife as well. Ten years and several thousand rounds fired later and we haven't killed anyone on accident or on purpose yet. Still probably not the best house to jiggle the doorknobs at or deliver a pizza to late at night.
