Pre-Paid Visa Information

Recommended Posts

Hi. A few years ago, got a pre-paid visa or mastercard in Thailand (can't remember which) for fun, because I had just heard about it, thought it sounded cool and wanted to try it out for fun. It just cost 50 baht to get, plus the money I had to top up on it, but when I left the country, I withdrew all the money and destroyed it :(

Now I am looking for another pre-paid card becuase I want to buy things anonymously online. Does anyone know where I can get a prepaid card where I can buy things online? All the banks I have been to seem to have no idea what I am talking about, even though they work in the financial services, and even though I know that this product definetly existed in Thailand in some form at some time, and last time I just remember walking in and getting it in 10 minutes. I am confused :S

Any help would be greatly appriciated.

I've never seen them in Thailand, just because I've never seen then doesn't mean they don't exist.

I suppose one option would be to get a debit card linked to a savings account from somebody like Kasikorn, you can use those for online purchases and also check the balance online.

Thanks for the help... When I got the cash passport before I was in Chaing Mai, maybe they have more stuff for tourists up there? I wish I had kept it. Maybe they stopped doing these services to force people to pay the ATM charge? I have a Thai debit card tied to a bank account already, so getting money and paying for stuff online isn't a problem. I just wanted a pre-pay visa or mastercard card to pay for stuff online anonymously, like the vanilla gift cards you can get in America. I would use bit coins, but bit coins aren't anonymous unless you pay for them anonymously, so it's all pointless. Never mind. Maybe they stopped it to prevent money laundering.

Being you want to be anonymous buying online I assume you are sending to someone other than yourself, and not to your address. It also questions the legality of what you're trying to buy.

If you know someone on the West coast in the USA have them go to a Safeway grocery store, get you a pre-paid Visa card, and top it up then send it to you. The cost is not cheap, but you will be able to remain anonymous.

Not true about being really anonymous: Quote from the VISA Prepaid Website: The activation process varies, depending on the provider that issued your card; however, all program providers are required to collect specific cardholder information prior to card activation.

In Theory, same should be true worldwide and yes, it has to do with money laundering and terror financing.

Or maybe he just wants to join a porn site and not have his wife see the bill. Just because someone wants to be anonymous doesn't mean they are or intend to be involved in criminal acts. jeeez.
