Hi All,

I'm flying to thailand on 10th of Feb therefore arrive 11th Feb without a visa, so will obtain the 30 day entry as I have a flight booked out of the country on 4th March.

I am considering extending my stay for two weeks until 18th of March, what is the best way to obtain this.

My flight tickets will be on the 4th of March upon initial entry but I'm then going to either change my tickets or book a new flight once in thailand.

Will I have to get the new tickets then do a visa run, if so what's the best place from Phuket?

Is it Malaysia or Burma, and is it safe now down south??

Or can I extend the visa to a 90 day visa at an Embassy in BKK ??

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks

You must leave Thailand and return with a new 30 day entry. There is no Thai Embassy in Thailand.

You can use Malaysia through Hat Yai and that should be safe enough. Or you could use the Ranong trip into Burma. I have no personal experience so won't give an opinion on which would be best.

Having read this far you will by now have realised that you have confused some people, although you gave a lot of details in your original post.

Entering Thailand on 11 February your passport will get a stamp permitting you to stay until 12 March.

If you wish to leave Thailand on 18 March, you therefore need to extend your permitted stay by 6 days.

After your arrival in Thailand, go to the nearest Immigration Office, fill out form TM.7 and pay THB 1,900 to apply for your extension.

You can extend the 30 day stamp by 15 days and then a further 7 days if necessary.

All you've got to worry about is getting your return flight date changed to the day you want .. touch and go there.

A 60 day Tourist Visa does'nt cost THAT much .. why not just get one and avoid all the hassle and expence of extensions and flight re-bookings?

I don't know where you are .. but the cost for a 60 day Tourist Visa is probably cheaper than the 1900 Baht extension fee for the 30 day freebie!

In Australia .. the 60 day Tourist Visa is $45 .. about 1350 Baht .. a lot cheaper than the 1900 Baht 30 day freebie extension!

Don't make life difficult for yourself!

The experience of most posters is that immigration offices will not want to extend a visa free entry more than 10 days. There are exceptions but they should not be counted on.
