My Thai boyfriend and I have been together for 2 years and recently decided we wanted to go visit Canada. We want to go at Christmas time for around 6 months, or how ever long his visa will allow. I researched the heck out of the Temporary Resident Visa for Canada and think I have all of my bases covered, as much as we could at least. He is not and has not been employed full-time by a normal employer for quite some time. He is a judo/jujitsu/MMA coach/fighter so getting a letter from his full time employer stating he would return was not an option. Nor was showing his bank statements or mine. I have been living in Thailand for the past 2 years with trips back to Canada to work when ever my money ran out. So me being a sponsor was not possible because I do not have a steady income. My mom and step mom both offered to help and provide any needed expenses while in Canada though. Here is what we did submit:

All the completed required forms from the government website

A letter of invitation from my mom and her bank statements and birth certificate

A letter of invitation from my step mom and her bank statements (because my mom has a steady income but not a large income, and my mom and step mom both live in different cities which we want to visit)

A letter stating how much income he made and a letter guaranteeing he will return to Thailand from his sports sponsor

A letter stating how much income he made and a letter guaranteeing he will return to Thailand from an MMA company he is under contract with

A letter stating how he has helped and a letter guaranteeing he will return to Thailand from the Sports Authority of Thailand

The deed to his house

Photocopies of my entire passport

A cover letter explaining his visit

A detailed description of our itinerary

And a couple of pages of pictures showing us together for the past 2 years

We had a huge package to submit and went a couple of days ago and handed it in. The reason I am writing this post is because when we handed it in they took everything except the deed to his house and a couple of photocopied certificates, ID's etc. I am really concerned why they didn't take the deed to his house, I have read everywhere that it is important to have that?

Also they seemed quite interested in the fact that I don't work in Thailand, could that hurt our chances?

Do you think that we submitted enough information? He actually doesn't want to go, we are trying to go for Christmas, because he is scared of the cold.

I would think the fact that you do not work in Thailand would be taken into consideration, what is your status here?

They will be looking for evidence that he will return to Thailand, you seem to be looking for the maximum time in Canada, that never helps. Proving the likelihood of returning especially might be problematical, you say you have no job and neither can he provide evidence of his employment.

You say he doesn't want to go to Canada, may they picked up on this in his application?

I have removed the remark about Thai females from your post.
