QED
Hopefully someone will know. I have some Thai staff with me in HK, their 30 day visa on arrival expires shortly, and the job we are on has been hit by delay after delay. I was thinking of taking them on a quick trip to Macau, returning the same day, to get another 30 day stamp. Is this feasible if I am there as a British National to vouch for them? Doesn't affect me as I have a 180 day stamp. Yes we are only on visitor visas, a large high profile company in HK who has close links with the government advised us to do it this way, and then provide our services on a 'specialist advisory' basis. Thanks for any help, cannot find anything specific on the internet.
durhamboy
HK & Macau are obviously both part of China now albeit as Special Regions. Back in 1997 after the HK handover there was one weekend when thousands of Brits went over to Macau to get an extra year on their visas - Macau didnt go back to China until 1999. 2 suggestions :- 1. Just take one person over a few days before and see what happens. 2. Couldnt instead of going to Macau just go up to the Shenzen border and do the same thing? Guest jonzboy
I believe you and your staff are all in Hong Kong working illegally. If this is the case I don't think this forum can be a party to helping you solve your problem.
Popular Post QED
Thanks for the one useful post. We tried Macau yesterday and it worked no problem. Jonzboy, I don't think anyone on a Thai forum is interested in the intricacies of the HK work visa system. I tried to pre-empt these kind of bonehead comments in my OP, but there always has to be one I guess.
Guest jonzboy
QED If in doubt, contact the Hong Kong Immigration Department for advice. I have some experience in handling working visas for Hong Kong. These are the best people to help you.
