How The Skyfall Rooftop Motorcycle Chase Was Filmed

See how the Skyfall rooftop motorcycle chase was filmed

The scene that everyone's talking about in Skyfall, the new James Bond movie starring Daniel Craig as 007, is the motorcycle chase through Istanbul. The bikes charge up narrow steps and jump from rooftops. So, how'd they do it?

First, the filmmakers modified Honda CRF250R motorcycles and dressed them up to look like Turkish police and street merchants' bikes. Then they got freestyle motocross legend Robbie Maddison to do Bond's stunts. The results are movie magic...

It was a great movie and scene, saw it last night, but honestly, it is a rip-off copy of the same bike chase in the Bourne Ultimatum filmed in Casablanca. Watch it and see if you don't agree.

Didn't realize it was filmed in Thailand? whistling.gif

I watched Skyfall yesterday. Technically a good production. Rubbish meaningless plot. Not worthy of a repeat visit.

Oh, at least one of our members has, or is interested, in the Honda CRF250R (or nearest facsimile) and its ability to jump over rooftops to escape a checkpoint--inspired by viewing Skyfall at the local EGV or Cineplex.

That good 'nuff for you?

That chase is also featured in the Top Gear show's "50 years of Bond Cars" episode and they interview the riders. They hit some pretty good speeds on that run.

clap2.gif awesome.

quite often a behind the scenes explains why something that looks really crazy is in reality not all that - here it's the opposite... they were really moving these bikes across rooftops and high speeds... with no helmets on!!

At lease they have nice suits and shoes. The young somchais near my house ride their bikes in the padi fields at break neck speed with only shorts and flip flops.

It's not Thailand related. It's in the wrong forum. Belongs in TurkeyVisa.com.
