Bacon Slicer

Featured Replies

Has anyone seen or bought one?

Needless to say I am trying my hand at making bacon and I forsee slicing it without one will be difficult.

I know Verasu sell them at 5000baht but that is a bit too much for my budget.

Thanks in advasnce.

Why does this remind me of another stupid old joke when I have nada for the OP?

"Did you hear that a guy got fired from a pickle factory for putting his johnson into the pickle slicer? Yep, the pickle slicer lost her job too."

Freezing it may make it easier to slice with a regular (but very sharp) knife? (Not completely -18 degrees solid, but just a bit) Will still be rather thick, but pretty good nonetheless.

I make my own ham and bacon and it IS hard to get a thinner cut without a slicer.

I need one as well and I am still trying to justify it to myself.

How do you make bacon? The smoked type that we eat in USA. And what spice/ equipment would be needed. Thanks. I would like to try my hand at this as well!

I have just looked up in my food files and I have about 18 different files.

What I must do is to put them somewhere that is easy to dump out meanwhile to get you going

Honey and mustard pork loin or bacon.doc

Honey and Mustard Roast Bacon Joint.doc

And just to make you a little jealous and hungry I have just started brining 3 kg of pork for

Possible, but it's better to use pork.

They have them on sale for 4700. How could that be too much for a professional slicer? How could you possibly find one for less? They would be 4 X the price in the West.

Maybe he just wants bacon for personal use? I agree with WTK about the "freezing" thing, that's how I do it.

Manual slicer, no motor?

That is possible.

They have been slowly reducing in price over the year but I hadn't realised they were that price now.

The meat section of the Rimping near the Iron Bridge have been kind enough to slice my home cured bacon for me.

I would say that is pretty darn decent of them considering the fact that they are in business to sell you products. I remember 4 or 5 months ago at Rimping Nim City. My wife bought 2 salmon steaks and because we would not be going home for a few hours asked them if they would pack them in some ice. They told her to go to a machine and buy ice.
