(Do Not) Travel Advisory - Canadian Embassy

Featured Replies

Just got this from the CDN embassy in BKK

Dear Canadian,

You are receiving this email because you are registered with the Government of Canada's Registration of Canadians Abroad service. Please share the following important information with other Canadian citizens in your area.

This is to inform you of the latest up-date of our Travel Report.  Please be advised that a large political demonstration is scheduled to take place in Bangkok on November 24, 2012, and may be extended. The Internal Security Act, which can limit civil liberties, the right to assembly and freedom of movement, will be in effect until November 30, 2012, in the districts of Phra Nakorn, Pomprab Sattrupai, and Dusit. Curfews and checkpoints may be imposed. Avoid affected districts until demonstrations have ended, and expect increased security, as well as possible delays and disruptions throughout the city.

You can consult the complete report at : http://travel.gc.ca/destinations/thailand

The cdn embassy in BKK usually does not issue much advisories. Nothing during the airport takeover, nothing during the 1st war in BKK. The only other advisory I recieved was just before the 2nd war in BKK. I recieved that days before the shooting started. So to recieve this one now means someone thinks there's going to be problems.

How's the situation actually? I'm spending most of my time in HKG now and only go back to BKK every few months.

i love that i live in bangkok and would not have even noticed were it not for article like this
