NON O visit Thai child. 7 day extension only

Featured Replies

Ok so I’m on my third non o.

First was issued from London then extended for 60 days at CW. Next one was from Vientiane and extended for 60 days.

The reason I’m extending only 60 as I’m

not married to the mother and don’t have the kor 11 or court order.

Anyway after getting my recent non o from Vientiane in June I went to cw today to get another 60 days. After taking payment and sending me away they called me back 5 mins later to say we will only give you 7 days extension as we want you to get a kor11 via the court. When I asked why they said government has changed the rules? Wtf and when did they do this?

Anyone else had this experience.

Looks like they are forcing me to use an agent. Lucky I’m 50 next month then.

That was an excuse to cover their previous mistakes.

IMO you were very fortunate to previously obtain 60 day extensions.

When a child is born out of wedlock, it's a known who the Mother is, but not the Father as anyone could be named on a birth certificate.
You have to follow a legal procedure to be 'legalised' as the Father to have parental rights.

There is an old topic on this subject you'd benefit from reading;

I don't know how you got the Non O,s in first place let alone 60 day extensions.

Seems you don't live with child after entry?

Yeah but the mother consents I’m the father yet the amphur still refuse to issue a kor 11 and say go to court.

Also I was told at CW before Kor 11 gives you 1 year extensions, without It you can get 60 days.

Visa agent it is then to cut out off of this nonsense.

I live with the mother and 2 children

Depending on how long you live per year in Thailand I suggest consider a Non O + 12 month extension + reentry permit.

I’ve been here with her for 14 months. Can’t get a one year as no kor11.

I was told that what i was doing was fine. Single entry then extend 60 days repeat etc

Anyway yeah it’s all a nonsense. Just pay the agent 14k a year and save me all this hassle plus loads of money too.

Both the Mother and Child must consent to you being the Father for an Amphur to issue a Kor. Ror. 11
Usually the child must be at least 7 years of age in order to consent.

That was not correct information.
As far as Immigration is concerned you are just someone named as the Father on a birth certificate, which alone, out of wedlock does not give you any parental rights.

So why give out a non o for visit Thai child?

Thai Embassies will issue a Non O based on Thai Family merely from a Childs Birth Certificate when named as the Father.

Once in Thailand, Thai law takes precedence and you must be 'legalised' as the Father.

Where the child is to young to give consent, you and the Mother can file a petition at the family Courts for a Court Order.

The Amphur will then issue a Kor Ror 11 on production of that Court Order.

Another solution would be to marry the Mother!

You'd have to apply for a 1 year extension based on retirement (50 +).
The problem may be the Non O was based on Thai Family, not retirement.
If you haven't got 800K in a Thai bank account for 2 months, then expect to pay more than 14K.

I’ve been told by an agent that they can extend the non o based on Thai child to a one year retirement extension. I have money in the bank as I originally thought I could extend based on having a Thai child for a year but obviously wasn’t able too. The money has been sitting in a Thai bank account ever since. The agent also says no money required and price is the same.

I remember you commented on another thread of mine around a year ago. I was saying is it possible to get a single entry non o then extend for 60 days. So that 5 month cycle just repeat.

You said yes that’s an option. That’s why I’m

Confused as I always thought the 60 days was for parents who don’t have the kor 11.

A few others said that’s what many do also. Even immigration told me no kor 11 but don’t worry 60 days is fine.

Just confused and disappointed that’s all.

Edit Sorry for the multiple quotes. Not sure what happened there

Seems you are looking to do this back to back ongoing.

Unrelated however some folk obtain a Non O retirement and use that to enter Thailand for 90 stamp with no intention of extension.

At a guess this will eventually have push back

Yeah that was the plan. Oh well I guess it’s not possible. I refuse to pay 50k or whatever it is for a judge to say I’m the real father when the mother already consents. I also like doing things myself but yeah I’m forced to now use an agent. Lucky I’ll be 50 next month.

Thanks for the replies everyone 👍

If you are 50+ suggest you go retirement route with or without agent.

Best of luck

With an agent. So much less hassle.

I paid 4000 today just for a 7 day extension that I didn’t want. Taxis and food included. Also wasted a whole day .

Just my thinking.

Next time obtain a Non O retirement and after entry to Thailand have agent obtain 12 month extension + multi reentry permit..

Which immigration office would you deal with
