Which Is Best Telephone-Taxi Number For Bangkok?

Featured Replies

I collected the following numbers ...

02-880-0880

02-911-5772

02-878-9000

1681

1661

Do members have any experience, good or bad, with phone taxis? Any preference for any of the above? If I needed one at 5.30 a.m. to go from Thonglor to the airport on a Friday, can I expect timely service? Thanks for any contributions.

I guess not many farang phone for taxis. Taxis are all over the place in Bangkok even at 5:30 in the morning - some starting and the night guys still taking revellers home - but maybe you have a long walk to Tha Thonglor or Tha Sukhumvit? And don't like sitting on the back of a local motorcy guy when your luggage is on another bike? [Come to think of it I would have felt the same until i became a bit more naturalised (and retired)rolleyes.gif ]

Of course if it rains taxis thin out dramatically and Ive heard they are impossible to order up at short notice in heavy rain unless you can do so a couple of hours ahead. That was just a throwaway heresay comment from a bar stool in the middle of a Chang-iinduced anti-Thai service rant, so may be exaggerated - I would like to see other user experiences too. Not sure I would ever trust a phoned-for taxi to arrive in time for a flight without a plan B or a big time margin though.

Some Bangkok taxis purposefully avoid foreigners, even if they are smartly-dressed like myself.

Not sure whether this is prejudice, fear of the unknown or inability to communicate. Anyway, don't try to hail a taxi with Thai customers around. Maybe I should make a sign 'Pood Thai Dai'!

I got my wife to contact a guy directly he drives a big van taxi around cost 700 baht from my place (Nonthaburi) to the Airport and he picked us up from the Airport as well, looked on the net to find his number, he also does runs from the Airport and Bangkok to Pattaya.
