It boggles the mind that no matter the subject, the Thai bashers line up faster than lightning with their 'witty' comments about tea money and corruption.

Okay Okay Coffee money then whistling.gifcoffee1.gif

Just showing up their anadequacies !

If you go to the world section you will notice that people comment on other races and nations as well. Just that this one is dedicated to thailand. People even have a go at thier own country so I do not think it is Thai bashing. Thailand is not pure and above critisism and can't be defended to the end of the world. It has many good points but it has it's fair share of faults as well.

Call it any way you like, but for most people this is Thai bashing.

Fair enough then lets just say if you do not agree with something that people do then it's bashing regardless of the fact that somethings may be wrong. If you critisise something that is wrong then it's bashing I will accept that. Political correctness is the latest trend.

You do not have to be a sleuth to find that comments when it come

to news involving white foreigners, especially from a few countries which

I will not mention, are toned down, whereas news involving Thais get the

most stupid and abrasive comments.

If this is not Thai bashing, what is it ?

Look back at all the postings made by these idiots and you will know what I

meant.

Thai bashing ..................................?

He's on bail.

How much do you think that cost to ARRANGE compared to the few baht it actually cost?

And now that they know .............................. imagine how much to guarantee his safety.

Thai bashing? I think most on here are mildly commenting on the reality. Then again go conduct your own experience of the police. Ask a policeman. see where that gets you.

Got fined once for speeding, more than 20 km too fast, 400 baht, and once for a parking violation, 400 minus 200 baht discount because I told the officer in charge that I was not familiar with that particular rule. Nobody ever hinted towards `tea money`.

Did you get any receipts?

It boggles the mind that there are people who don't understand that the payment of "tea money" is a reality and the institution of the Thai police suffers from endemic corruption. It's very likely that the police are indeed regretting the missed opportunity to extort money from the ex-prince and that they are alluding to ways that they can lighten the consequences of his actions if some "tea money" were made available to them. The Thais themselves understand this reality. It can hardly be called bashing if the Thai people make the same comments about the way their own law enforcement behaves.

Spot on.

In my experience the people who accuse others of Thai bashing must have either their heads in the sand, have not lived here for long enough to understand the reality or are deliberately being obtuse because they have business interests in Thailand and do not benefit from even constructive criticism.

Another silly justification. Doesn't cut any ice with most people.

FYI, I am a professional Thai, born and brought up there, and

had migrated to the West where I am presently living and working,

but planning to go back and live there in my twilight years soon.

I find some of the postings on TV very obnoxious.

And I had seen enough !

I understand about my people more than you do or ever will.

Living here in the West, I have never criticized or made any bad

comments on the country which had accomodated me, although

of course there are some aspects I certainly do not like.

Good bye .... you can screw your TV forum !

If you do not like my country .... SHUT UP & GET OUT !

Not just shut up then, but get out too? Very interesting insight, thanks. Enjoy the fruits of opportunity you continue to have in the US but didn't have in your native land.

Wow!

Hey, FarangTalk! Just think what kind of response you'd have got from MahaYellow if you'd disagreed with his first post!

Nonsense, I am just another guy from Europe that enjoys early retirement in the sun, I love the Thai food, Thai massage and my Thai wife, I have no business interests in Thailand, as my wealth is in offshore companies in Europe. There is hardly ever any "constructive criticism" on Thai visa. It is an endless stream of nagging, whining and complaining by people who chose to live in Thailand, instead of staying in their corruption free countries where they come from. I agree with another poster: If you do not like it here, go back to where you came from. In the 3 years that I lived here, as well as in the 6 or so times I traveled backpacking through Thailand in the decade before I moved here, my experience is that when you mind you own business, don't hang out in sleazy bars and don't treat the Thai like inferior people, life in Thailand is very good.
