Hi everyone

I am looking for some straight answers because KLM and my travel agent seem to know nothing aghhhhhhh.....

I want to book from Dublin to Schiphol to BKK but their site states a 1hr 20 min stopover. Is this enough to make it to my connection.

I desperatly need to know this.

Thanks

There some standard transfer times for every airport.

I suppose you will be traveling on 2 different companies, or is it a trip you booked with KLM as such a trip?

In this case it is KLM's duty to make sure the time is sufficient and to see that you can reach your connecting flight in time.

If you fly with 2 different companies, I would advise against that connection, although I don't know Shiphol airport.

You can verify on the internet that the minimum connecting time at Shiphol is 50 minutes, so I guess it is doable.

I would advise you contact Airport Staff as soon as you arrive so they can guide you to a fast transit corridor.

I am looking at booking with the Klm website and it gives me that flight and the connection. Dublin to schiphol with aer lingus then connection with klm flight to Bangkok. Do you think it's to risky ?

Thanks

I'd take it!

If you are booking the itinerary Dublin - Bangkok and they give you that connection, it is their responsibility.

Plus, the minimum connection time is given as 50 min, and you got more than 50% more.

So, I'd take it.

Just be sure to proceed immediately to transit and to ask airport staff for the quick transit route.

If Aer Lingus and KLM have a codeshare agreement you can check your bags straight through and get the onward boarding pass in Dublin.

That would make it very easy indeed as no need to go through transit at all.

Otherwise it will be a pain....still doable though I reckon.

Yes, you should be able to book your luggage straight through if they codeshare, regardless of whether you bought a package or not. That makes it easy. I've checked through Athens with less than an hour stopover that way.

That's great guys just booked the flight and saved myself 4 hours travel time. Dublin BKK in 13.5 hours if all goes well.

Not wanting to throw a damper at this, Schipol is great for you to get around but baggage seems to be the problem. I have had my bags not make my connection 2 out of the last 3 times through Schipol with transfer times of between 1:20-1:40. Luckily on all occasions it was transferring to LHR and my bags were on the next flight and delivered to my address in London a couple of hours after I arrived.

Tell your agent to enter DCTAMS or MCTAMS in their system and voila.

Your bags will be tagged all the way, so you're fine

MCT- Minimum Connect times for AMS

Domestic to Domestic - 25 minutes

Domestic to International/Europe - 50 minutes

Domestic to Europe - 40 minutes

International to Domestic - 50 minutes

Europe to Domestic - 40 minutes

International to International - 50 minutes

Within Europe - 40 minutes
