I have a confusing situation and I need some advice.

I am currently trying to apply for a work permit, all of the company stuff is in place so no issue there.

The issue is that I currently have a one year extension of stay of a Non Imm B visa (this is the second year it has been extended). I also have a multi entry re-entry permit attached to this.

I was advised I should get a new Non Imm B visa, which I did from Singapore. When I returned to Thailand I was stamped in until the date of the expiry of my extension of stay (in July next year), instead of them stamping me in on the visa (which is still "unused"). I questioned this at the time and they said this is correct.

I have now been advised to cancel my extension of stay, leave the country for 24 hours and return on my new visa! (although this is by a lawyer, not as far as I know the Labor Department).

Problem is that the company I got the extension of stay with has "disappeared". The work permit expired and was cancelled but the extension of stay appears to be valid based on doing 90 day reports, re-entering Thailand etc. For some reason the date of expiry on both didn't match up - I never really asked as they were taking care of everything and I never had any issue. I therefore have no way to get a letter to take to immigration to cancel the extension and I have no payslips, tax forms etc from them.

Is there any way this can be sorted out easily? I would REALLY appreciate some advice as I need my work permit asap.

You need to go to immigration to cancel the extension of stay and explain to them the reasons why you can not obtain the letter from employer. Am not sure how they can disappear if you have been working for them and expect immigration police may have a problem understanding and you will obviously have been on overstay from the date your work ended so I expect there may be a fine involved so I would have up to 20k with me and be prepared to immediately leave. You might want to have legal consul with you.
