Sad, sad pooch ... what is the problem?

Currently staying at the gf's Farm ... miles from anywhere.

Not a 'Soi Dog' ... but no owner either that I can ascertain.

Seems to be no issue with it's gate, nor lot's of scratching and doesn't seem to be in pain.

Just never seen anything like it before and wondering if you fine folk know what it is?

It is a sad case indeed ...

I'm staying a Farm a long way away from anything or anywhere ... no real car access to speak of.

South of Bangkok but way north of Chon Buri.

Also the dog is very person shy ... the camera was on the maximum 10x telephoto for those shots.

Would require a tranquilizer dart most likely.

i will pop over with the pics to see the Vet tomorrow, if there are tablets that can help, would you be willing to try? what i mean is, i will buy the pills, put as many as needed into a sausage and throw it to him. may be will work :)

Let me know and i will speak with the Vet, may be can post it over to you or something,i am sure we can arrange somehow to get it over.

Spoke to my lassie and she said yes ... if we can ... then good luck him (the dog).

Happy to buy the sausages, if you work out the vet side of the equation.

Ask the vet what is the best and most practical method of delivery.

I'm here for some weeks yet so we have a reasonable window of opportunity.

Been to a Vet, from the pictures he also thinks its papillomavirus.

The bad news is the only cure according to him is intravenous injections for about 2 weeks everyday, there are no oral medications.

The good news is, it does not hurt the dog, just looks really really bad.

I guess nothing we can do, but glad to see David was wiling to help :), i guess no lady for this sad guy :( (i mean the dog)

Just some good news ...

Even though the affliction does look awful

It doesn't appear to have affected his gate and appears to be walking normally and not in pain.

Thank God for small mercies ...

The Vet said it does not itch or cause any pain, just looks awful :(

Amazing. How comes there is a drug treatment for K9 papillomavirus, but none for HPV, at least nothing effective? Does your dog need further injections or pills to prevent recurring warts?

Just closing the door on this thread with a sad note.

Sometime in the past few days the dog did pass away ... quietly, under one of the local Farm Houses.

I presume from it's inability to either eat or drink.

I saw it maybe a week ago and it did not look emaciated .. so maybe thirsty ... and water is not a problem round these parts.

So sad ...

Thanks to all the well wishers ... wai2.gif
