City hall Employee gunned down in Pattaya

Pattaya: Mayor’s driver shot by unknown gunman

45 year old Kamol Supatsaksakul, who was off duty at the time and riding a motorbike, was rushed to a local hospital in what is reported as a critical condition, after being shot twice in the head and at least once in his upper body. Hospital reports state that he was in a coma before his arrival.

The 45 year old is a regular driver for Pattaya’s popular mayor, Itthipol Khunplome, and is also said to own an “off licence” in the city ( seller of bottled alcoholic beverages for consumption off premises) near the Bali Hai area of the city. It was from this business that he and his wife were riding home after closing for the night. And there is no indication that his shooting is related to his employment with city hall.

Pattaya Mayor’s chauffeur shot dead in Pattaya

PATTAYA:--At 4am on Saturday Pattaya police were called to a shooting incident in front of the Natureza project in Soi Nong Prue, Naklua.

The Thai man, identified as Mr. Kamol aged 45 and who works as the chauffeur for Pattaya’s mayor, had been shot while riding home on his motorbike with his wife as passenger. When police arrived at the scene, the victim had already been taken to Pattaya Memorial hospital. His motorbike lay on the ground together with a large pool of blood.

At the hospital police were informed that Mr. Kamol had been shot three times and was in a critical condition. His wife, Sunisa, aged 45, told police that she and her husband had been riding home on the motorbike after closing their liquor store near Bali Hai pier in South Pattaya.

She noticed they were being followed by a black car which suddenly pulled up alongside them. The passenger window was opened and three shots were fired at her husband. The car then drove off at high speed. A security guard at the location heard the shots and notified the police. The victim’s wife didn’t notice the make of the car, nor its registration number. She said her husband was a good, hard working man and had no enemies.

do not want to speculate, but he may be an innocent victim, someone used to scare the mayor himself.

wish him speedy recovery wai2.gif

Given the mayors family connections I would be very surprised after all his dad did famously say that he 'used to have enemies but they all died'. Maybe some have come back while he is hiding out in 'Cambodia' on his murder rap.

my thoughts exactly, sad to see innocent get hurt though, but sadly thats the way it usually is

As the saying goes, no matter how big, strong or powerful you are, there is always someone bigger, stronger and more powerful, or may be just crazy enough.

One thing to mention, this incident did not get much publicity and was rather kept under wraps, so ............wai.gif

PattayaOne suggested on TV that the man had an enemy after all, and he owns a black car. It's not easy to shoot from the drivers seat trough the passenger window in a moving car, on bad roads, at a moving target as small as a head, and not miss once. That wasn't a random guy, but good marksman. Isn't the obvious start of the investigation the wife? Could also be a customer of the booze shop, angered that it refused to sell after midnight. There's lots of thugs near Bali Hai Pier all night long, and shootings not unusual. The shop should close at midnight, but they returned home 4am? I don't think it's a warning for the mayor.

For those familiar with local politics in Thailand and more specifically Pattaya politics and the Khunpleum political dynasty, will be aware that the term 'driver' is generally used very loosely within this field.

Police investigation into Pattaya Mayor’s Chauffeur murder case continues

PATTAYA:--The investigation into the shooting of the Mayor of Pattaya’s Chauffeur continues. Although suspects have now been discounted from the investigation, the shooter remains at-large.

Since the shooting, which took place in Soi Nongprue, close to the Water Station, early on Saturday Morning, Police have received further evidence and the initial suspect, Mr. Best has given himself up to Police. His Black Toyota Vios has been seized by Police pending a detailed forensic examination of the vehicle but Mr. Best strongly denies allegations he was involved and with no evidence suggesting it was him that shot Khun Kamol aged 45, he has been released pending further investigations.

20 Meters away from the crime scene a bullet casing was found which is now being forensically tested
