Clinics Or Hospitals. Which Is Cheaper?

Featured Replies

I'm new to the Sukhumvit - Ekkamai area and have these little skin tags I want to cut off. Can be done in 5 minutes. I think any GP can do it, not necessary to see a dermatologist. Where could I do this in my area or anywhere on the Sukhumvit BTS line? Any recommended clinics or hospitals?

Otherwise, anyone have a sharp pair of scissors? ;)

Thank you!

I would recommend just using the 'wart-acid' available at all pharmacies for THB 100 or so.

I have used this on skin tags previously and it works on those in 2-3 days, if you apply a couple of times a day. You can also tie some cotton thread around the base of the tag and it will die off pretty quickly.

Must be better than subjecting yourself to a scalpel !

Previously I had a wart and various skin tags and went to my local clinic on Pridi Soi 4 but he wouldn't do it, so I went to Sukhumvit hospital between Ekkamai and Pra Kanong.

Wart removal was a quick OP operation done in the A&E treatment room under local anesthetic, from memory 1,500 to 2,000 Baht. He didn't do the skin tags.

However, the wound subsequently got infected, so I had to go back for antibiotics a couple of times and took about 2 months to fully settle down. I had another wart recently and just blitzed it with acid for 3 days and it's gone !

Sukhumvit hospital between Ekkamai and Pra Kanong.

Thank you. Definitely not warts, just 3 tiny skin tags. Tempted to do it myself!

I went to the hospital in Sukhumvit 49 to have one removed a couple of years cost me 8,000 Baht.

A good percentage of that was the flipping nurse weighing me, taking my blood pressure and temperature on both vists.

Next time a clinic or DIY.

Wart/skin remover - salicylic acid. Comes in a little bottle from the chemist for about 70B.

Just don't get it in your eyes or your genitals. :o

My doctor in Sydney ,who, incidentally , is Thai , has used that dry ice method . It looks like a gas bottle with a nozzle and gives just a quick blast to freeze them off . It stings a bit for a micro-second , but then the skin tag then disappears after a couple of days. I would assume they would use similar method in Bangkok.

I have found the hospitals are better than the clinics myself but that is a topic in itself.

I will also try the wart acid method next time , thanks realfunster for that info .
