Sun Shade Sail Materials/makers?

Featured Replies

I want to construct a triangular sun shade for the front of our house. Not a rainproof canopy, but a strong mesh or netting material that cuts out most of the sun's power.

I know that many stores and restaurants use a flimsy black netting material that is both unsightly for my needs, and is likely not to be able to last very long. I am looking for a supplier of slightly more exotic man-made fabrics that perhaps can be ordered to size, with strong seams and strong metal eyelets at the corners with which to affix the triangular shade sail to two fixed points on the wall and one on a post erected for this purpose.

I'll try to attach a photo a friend took in a store in New Zealand to make it clearer what I am talking about.

Can anyone point me to a store where fabric/netting materials are sold and can be sewn up according to the sizes and specs I need?

Thanks in advance,

pj

I know someone that could do what you want, but they're in Pattaya.

IS curtain has sunshade, as well as the cheaper local version....

Thanks for that tip. I don't know IS Curtain, but I'll go look for them. If you could give me some pointers, I'd be glad to get them.

We need a one-off item, so it'll have to be a Chiang Mai supplier I reckon. I'm betting there's exactly the kind of store I need out there somewhere. (Maybe IS Curtains?)

Here is a street-view look at Chiang Mai Tent and Canvas Company located a couple miles north of town. They might be worth a try.

Its a large shop near the rear car park

Is that the Big C that shares a floor with Home Pro?

Yes..drive out the rear exit and I think its the next road to the right ( Its a large white building)

You can walk in 5 minutes

We have purchased curtains and flooring from IS, they are very good

Thanks HG. I think even I can find them, thanks to your directions.

^ thats homepro big c, not the far-out big c,

pls report back on pricing.

IS definitely is a cut above regarding furniture, drapery, and wall coverings. We have purchased furniture and will go to them for vinyl wall coverings once the new house is completed. Fantastic deals on real latex mattresses. Highly recommended.

That said, never did see 'sail' material.

However try http://www.shadesasia.com/ near Phuket

A friend gave me directions to IS Curtains. Drive straight out of the back entrance of Home Pro/Big C, go straight across the junction and IS Curtain & Decor is near the end of that road on the right side, just before you get to the next cross street in front of the hotel/resort. We'll get over there soon and check 'em out.
