December 11, 201213 yr I thought this soi was named after Chaiyaphum province. Some call it Chaiyapoon, perhaps a play on the word 'poon', meaning girls or chicks. Which is correct? Thanks.
December 11, 201213 yr Maybe because of Chaiya Poon Inn? The soi actually is called Chaloem Phrakiat 25. Check it out on Google Maps. Chaloem Phrakiat is Pattaya Sai 3 (Third Rd.) so, possibly other names - Soi 25, Sai 3; or Third Rd. Soi 25? Edited December 11, 201213 yr by BB1950
December 12, 201213 yr After I had been here in Thailand for a while I realized that there are about three (3) ways to spell,in English almost everything. eg. Thrappaya.Tappaya.Treppaya Jomtien.Chom tien........
December 12, 201213 yr My wife says it's Poon, maybe the "Poon" as in cement ?? @ThaiBob Soi Chaiyapoon or "Phum" is a side street from Third Road near the former Excite Disco Edited December 12, 201213 yr by MJCM
December 12, 201213 yr Author Soi Chaiyaphruek is not the name of a Thailand province. Who said anything about Soi Chaiyaphruek? Chaiyaphreuk Road is in Jomtien. There are no street signs with Chaiyaphum or Chaiyapoon. If Chaiyapoon -- an inn on Chaloem Phrakiat 25 -- is a true Thai name (?), then some local Thais are mis-representing the soi as Chaiyaphum, after the province. The local authority needs to clarify and also employ commonly-used names on its street signs. We pay them enough in taxes and tourist charges. Edited December 12, 201213 yr by Trevor25222
