Non-O Extension

Featured Replies

Hi,

I've just applied for my non-o visa extension (1year) after being told that after 60 days on my non-o i could apply for my year visa. Everything went smooth, all the documents were correct i got a receipt and a date to recieve my year visa. It wasn't untill i got home and double checked i found out that my non-o 3 month visa runs out on 9th of Jan, but my date to recieve my year extension visa is 8th of Feb.

I've called the immigration office and they said they start the 30 days wait from when my non-o visa runs out not from the day i apply. Is this right?

I'm scared that from the 9th of Jan - 8th of Feb i'm without a visa, which will be classed as overstay?

Thanks you for any advice in advance :)

You are fine; that return date stamp is your temporary extension of stay. You are not getting a visa but an extension of stay for one year and that will be stamped when you return. Remember any travel will require a re-entry permit (if you got now it would only be until your return date) so most people get at least a single entry immediately after getting the actual one year extension of stay.

Hi K.Lopburi3

Thankyou for your reply. Another question on my mind is for the first time application for extention visa is it normal for officers to make an appointment to see our house too?

Thankyou so much :)

Never heard of them making an apointment.

They usually just turn up if they want to visit.

They took my number and told me that they will make an appointment to inspect our house to make sure we are living together etc. ( even tho we are married have a child together that was calling us throught-out the entire interview lol )

We have nothing at all to hide, their more than welcome to inspect our house but i don't want it to be a regular thing or to see our belongings and ask for under the table money if you get what i mean :(

Totally normal and expected on first application. At times, especially in Bangkok, they have just checked around neighborhood but they are expected to make a home visit on first extension so nothing to worry about.
