Renewing My Foreign Wife's Dependency Visa Extension

Featured Replies

Moderators, please leave this in the CM forum. I started a thread in the visa forum but only got one reply in 2 days. Perhaps there are more foreign couples living in CM who are in similar situations.

Last year my Chinese wife got her 1st extension as a dependent of mine. I have been getting retirement extensions for over 5 years in Chiang Mai. At the time of her application, we provided marriage documents that came from China; our Chinese certificate of marriage which was officially translated into English, notarized and authenticated and signed by the deputy consul-general at the Thai Consulate in Kunming China. To repeat, the notarization and authentication was done in China. She had no problem getting her extension. These documents are now over a year old. Based on today's procedure, can my wife continue to use the same dated documents every year or do we need to get new notarized copies from the Chinese Consulate each year? I know that there is a Chinese Consulate in Chiang Mai if we need one.

Her extension is up for renewal very soon. so any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
