Question About Double Entry Tourist Visa

Featured Replies

I just want to make sure I have got this right because I've never used a double entry before. I will be applying for the visa in Australia.

1. Get double entry visa in Australia

2. Arrive in Thailand by plane - first entry valid for 60 days

3. Cross the border at Mae Sai to do some shopping some time in the first 60 days

4. Re-enter Thailand the same day and activate the second entry* - valid for another 60 days

*I'm assuming that activating the second entry at Mae Sai is just as painless as the first entry at the airport and should only take about 2 minutes?

Thanks

Most people, if using for long stay, would extend 30 days at immigration after the 60 day stay and do second time after the second 60 day stay for total of about six month stay. Just be sure to make both entries into Thailand during the validity of the visa itself.

Yes, aware of this option. Only staying TL for 90 days total so don't need the extra 30. In the past I used to apply for a single entry and get another 30 days in Chiang Mai. However, the double entry option means less paperwork and slightly cheaper. Always go to Mae Sai once each trip so that's not a factor.
