Jai Dee
Water level declining in Phuket but should suffice The water level in Bangwad (บางวาด) dam in Phuket has declined after a period of no rain, but should last until May. Meanwhile about 3,000 families in Sakaew province have started to feel the pinch of water shortage. In Sakaew officials are using water trucks to take water to people in Thappharat (ทัพราช) subdistrict in Taphraya (ตาพระยา) experiencing shortage of water. Currently about 14,000 people in the area are facing the water shortage problem. In Ranong province, the local waterworks provider has adjusted its plans in order to accomodate water shortage in the hot season. It is surveying raw water sources that may be used to produce tapwater. The entity is also accelerating the placement of its water pipes to the Ranong port, in order to finish the work by March 15, before large vessels come in to dock at the port and consume as much as 300,000 liters of water per vessel per week. In Phuket, the water retained at present will suffice unitil May without additional input. The province is also constructing a dam that will finish in 2008, which would provide another water holding site. fatter than harry
Saying there's a possible shortage of water in Phuket around March time is like saying there might be policemen at Chalong circle around 4pm. But thanks for the heads up Thai National News Bureau Public Relations Department.
