Gary A
Scorpions don't bite. They sting with a barb on their tail. My Thai wife has been stung and says it is about the same as a wasp sting. She also says that the little brown scorpion has a much more painful sting than the big black ones. The little brown ones and centipedes are what you should be most careful of. Mario2008
Scorpions in Thaiand are not lethal, just painfull (unless you are alergic, etc etc.) I know there are lethal ones in the Sahara region, but not in Thailand. What most people do is put some tiger balm on it after being stung. It sure hurts.
FBN
Most important as immediate treatment for these scorpion stings is ice. This reduces the pain very quickly. Local scorpions are not lethal as most scorpions are; those that are, can be lethal to children or adults with underlying health problems. Interestingly, treating the pain from the more lethal species with an opiate (Morphine) aggravates the effect of the toxin and is still not as effective as ice.. Sheryl
If it is really bad, a local doctor can numb the area with local anesthetic for you. (I was stung once, the pain is memorable)
