DaamNaam
Check out Elephant nature Park. You can volunteer there. The only place I know where the elephants are treated right. Lek Chailert the lady who runs it is very passionate about their protection.
CMSteve
The ENP will not allow you to ride the elephants. You should check out Mae Sa in Mae Rim. They are probably the closest. 200 entry/show and extra to ride.
MESmith
We always head down to the National Elephant Institute on the road to Lampang. Elephant bathing at 9.45 am, followed by show and/or riding.
KhunOr
I second that. The NEI is also called the Thai Elephant Conservation Center. They treat the elephants wonderfully there. Their hospital provides free vetinerary care to sick elephants all over Thailand (they have a mobile clinic). We always head down to the National Elephant Institute on the road to Lampang. Elephant bathing at 9.45 am, followed by show and/or riding.
