Hello CM locals

Im in CM with the GF over NY and need a fun place to spend NYE. She loves the good view but they are full for bookings...... is there anywhere simmilar? Im not looking for a ferang place realy (i am a ferang so of course nothing wrong with a ferang place) but i know she would enjoy somewhere more thai... thai band etc.

Any suggestions?

Might not suit your location but for the past 2 years have spent New Years at the 700 year stadium.

Mainly an Thai crowd. Limited drinks (Chang), might be different this year. Food OK.

But as a whole, an very nice place to spend new year.

And yes, decent fire works..

haha, no! I like to throw in the occasional smidgeon of humour.......seriously, TG is the place to be, its just buzzing, busy but a great atmosphere and it doesnt have to involve alcohol (though that would be better)....but the santi plaza as wtj says always find some time to pop in there...and see the Thais celebrate farangnam style!

its also filled with 13 year olds and is hardly anything like goodview.

you could try MOC MOL, its fairly big, has a band around the same prices as goodview. There's another one on the river called Yoi Yoi or something like that, which is also simalar to goodview.

I'll probably spend some time at Thapae Gate, then off to Zoe Yellow or other bars in that area. Plenty live bands in the area, but mostly not Thai music, of course. I prefer it over the Thai poser bars though, and fortunately so does the Mrs.

Where is the Flora Hotel.... I'm aware of the Floral Condo on the East Side of the River.

It is behind hillside 4 On foot you can walk through Hillside 4 right into it. Originally it was going to be hillside 5 but they changed there mind. I believe it is at least a 4 star hotel with several restaurants in it,

On the roof is a pool and I believe the restaurant is a barbeque. It is not a cheap place. But the view is awesome.

The top of the porn ping was mentioned I believe they are doing renovations there, Cant say for sure.

They might have been in 1988 but they sure aren't now. That hotel is well overdue a refurb and they claimed they were starting this year. Don't know if they have yet.

Yoy River Bar is what the previous poster was thinking. It's located on the west side of the Ping River right where the superhighway crosses. There's another one directly across the river from Yoy that always seems to be hopping. Another is Tara Bar which is near the helicopter base right on the river.

top of porn ping definitely closed for renovations. Classic timing really...

Yes, We live very near this location and it is not the best to see New Years Fireworks because it is too far away from the River... our favorite spot has been Porn Ping in the past but .... yes closed this year for renovation.... closed right before their 2 biggest nights.... Balloon Festival and New Years
