Any US citizen who wished to point out the depth of superstition in Thailand might wish to consider the odds of an atheist becoming President in their own country.

Freedom OF religion should also include freedom FROM.

Americans have written on their currency: "In God We Trust." In what way is that not superstition?

Is that the same God who sent the deluge to New Orleans, or flooded NYC and Bangkok?

The sooner people get a grasp on science and the awesomeness of nature, the sooner they might get to shucking the voodoo of made-up belief systems, and get on to doing sensible non-harmful actions.

Probably equal odds of a non Buddhist becoming a leader of Thailand. What people do or choose on a personal level is their business. So if you go to a temple, donate some money, and set some birds free, and then expect good luck to pour down upon you , then that is your business. When you do the same things at a governmental level, you will of course open yourself to ridicule . And rightfully so. Apparently losing face does not apply to the government. biggrin.png

How about............if Yingluck made a public speech about what she felt her government had done wrong for the year, and the actions she was going to take to correct them ???? Nah never going to happen. Just stick with luck as a causative factor for a bright future.....clap2.gif
