Work & Visas Bali

Featured Replies

Hi Ive been offered a job in Bali. I wanted to ask what is the normal way and cost for the appropriate visa for this.. I have been asked to meet someone in singapore to hand over 180 sdg for my visa , However some bells are ringing about a scam... I dont feel comfortable handing over so much money to a stranger that will meet me in a hotel somewhere. If I knew more detail of what the norm is I might be able to judge if this is a genuine arrangment or not...

is anyone can advise me on what is expected . can I arrive on a tourist and if the job works out pop over to Singapout and organize visa then? How to safe gaurd myself against a scam? etc..

cheers

Where did you have the job interview? Are you confident it's a legitimate job offer?

I doubt someone would go to this length to scam you out of $S180.

Did you try Google ? There seems to be loads of stuff there, including this :

Looks like you need a work visa to enter (kitas). A tourist visa would be a "vitas". I would check as much as you can, with whoever is offering you work, before you got to meet him in SGP.

What sort of job? This website seems to carry some pretty good advice:-

Unless it's teaching English there appears to be as little chance of getting a work permit as in Thailand (and note the comment that small schools are unlikely to be able to sponsor work permits). Any employer of substance should be able to sort out a work permit for you, and they could stop it out of your first salary payment if they expected you to pay for it.
