Hello, as of December 31st i will spend a few days in Suphanburi town and around. I have the current Rough Guide and the 2009 Lonely Planet, but obviously the town is not in there! I do speak a bit of tourist Thai that's useful with hotels, restaurants and drivers. Things that interest me:

- atmospheric eateries and coffee shops, esp outdoors and on the river

- good live music places for morlam or songs-for-life incl. for New Year's Eve (sth like the Tawan Daengs across the country) (aware that it's the place of Phoompeuang and Ad Carabao)

- rentals for cars, motorcycles or bicycles

- suggestions for surrounding provincial towns such as Singburi etc.

- nature

- scenic every day life

- maybe a place for New Year's Eve (lively, not solemn)

- anything you find remarkable

Thanks!

As far as I'm aware everything closes at 11.30pm. Most boring town in Thailand :D:D

But for your sake I hope not.

Maybe a bit late to post, just come across the topic, but I only frequent the resteraunts in Suphan of which there is a decent selection, but regarding live music, there's usually a gig or 2 to be found at some local hotel if you ask around,, my son visited us in june last year from uk, went out by himself on his first night and got home to our house around 2am,, so there's nightlife of a sort to be found, although Suphanburi is generally a quiet town,, theres a new place opened in the last couple months called Zoods, pass NASA mall and maybe 300 - 400 mtrs down at the opposite side of the road,, opens till late, live music of some sort, frequented by people mostly people in their 20s , I guess they'll stay open as long as they have customers as I noticed a table of Thais still drinking after 7am one morning when I was taking the kids to school
