The Minister of the Interior has admitted that solving poverty conditions in the northern and southern regions may be difficult, and is asking for public particiation in following a sufficiency economy model.

Air Chief Marshal Kongsak Wanthana (คงศักดิ์ วันทนา) stated during the opening of a seminar to solve poverty issues under the government policy in Chachoengsao province that one of the main poverty issues which has not yet been solved is homelessness and lack of proper dwelling. Mr Kongsak stated that the government is addressing the issue in a most thorough manner and will develop a solution soon. Difficulties lie in the southern and northern regions of Thailand. Poverty is being handled well in the central region.

To effectively combat poverty, citizens must embrace the sufficiency economy principle and adjust their lifestyle. He said however, that competition is unavoidable to promote exports and national revenues as a whole. In conclusion, the minister said that the poverty eradication campaign in all parts of the country is generally efficient, particularly in addressing such issues as the lack of land for cultivation and unemployment.
