Bomb exploded at Red Cross fair in Sa_kaew and killed one teenager

A bomb exploded inside the Red Cross fair in Sa_kaew province late last night, resulting in 1 death and 6 injuries and prompting the provincial governor to order stringent security checks on young adults coming to the fair tonight.

Sa_kaew Provincial Governor Somboon Sriphatthanawat (สมบูรณ์ ศรีพัฒนาวัตน์) and police officials inspected the site of the explosion late last night, finding the body of a 16-year-old highschool student in front of the central stage in the Red Cross fair.

Witnesses say that around 11.30 pm last night, as a famous singer was performing on stage and groups of youths were dancing to the rhythm, an explosion occured and sent people running away. After the chaos subsided the 16-year-old man was discovered laying dead and 6 other people were found to have been seriously wounded from the blast.

Preliminary investigation by police found that the bomb used was of a hom-made model currently popular among young gansters. The police do not yet know which group was responsible for the blast.

In the meantime the provincial governor has ordered weapons check on all young adults coming to the fair tonight, which is the final night.

What gangs exist in Thailand and what would a gang get from this bombing?

All sorts of gangs: neighborhood gangs, motorcycle racer gangs, technical college gangs, etc.

different from the states or phillippines as there is no real dresscode, no gang names, particular gang tattoos, etc.

Conflicts such as those are mostly territorial conflicts, or over girls, or just for the heck of it.

Weapons mostly used in coflicts are knifes, machetes, samurai swords, zip guns (they are a bit of a joke though), ping pong ball bombs (often carried by the girls), sometimes hand guns.
