Hi Guys, can you help me?

Some my screen settings (my presumption) have changed and the page now dissapears off my screen (netbook) to the right unless I use the slider bar.

E v e r y t h i n g l o o k s e l o n g a t e d.

Did Goggle it before disturbing you, but didn't find the answer.

Running Windows XP sp3

Please ask questions if you need more info.

As always ... thanks in advance.

Unfortunately netbooks (9" 10" screen???) have a limited screen resolution, and some can't handle larger www. pages.

In win7, I would go Start>Control Panel>Display, or somesuch, and max the resolution. (Am using linux now, and thus can't be more precise).

Xp should have a similar pathway. [Xp close to 10 years old now...]

The best move I made, was to buy a bigger/faster comp, and keep my faithful 10" NBook as music player/aquarium screensaver/backup.

Cheers, AArn

So what happens if you select your original settings ?

Where ... I'm not a computer guy when it comes to this stuff ... so talk to me like a 5yo ... biggrin.png

Have you tried CTRL +/- to see the affect? That is if it is only when using the browser but standard apps still appear ok.

The 'CTRL +/-' just changed the fot size inside the elongated window.

But thANKS FOR THE REPLY.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr ... the day they have backlit keys on an affordable netbook ... I'll be first in the queue.

Everytime I want to type in low light I have to lower thwe screen to light the keyboard ... and sometimes hit the 'CAPS LOCK' instead of the 'a' key!

Right click when you're on your home screen and select screen resolution.

Right click when you're on your home screen and select screen resolution.

Right click on home screen. Left click properties. Click settings tab. Adjust the slider for screen size. Click OK and you will see the new screen size and be given time to accept or decline the new screen size.

Am I in the correct place?

Display Properties.doc

Had to attach as a word doc as I don't have any program to convert the image on this computer.

The only thing that I can view to 'slide' is the 'Screen Resoloution' ... and that will not move.

Am I in the wrong place?

Sorry to be a PIA

EDIT ... I did have this window open at the time but minimised at the time ... would that affect the possible change?

If the slider for screen resolution wont move then it is possible your video driver is corrupted. I would recommend downloading the latest video driver for your laptop and try it. BTW, what is the make/model of the laptop as that will help find the driver for you if you have a problem locating it. This is for Windows 7 but XP will have a similar resolution slider. On yours, what position does the slider show (640x480) or similar? Most netbooks are 1024 x 600. Possible you are coming up on bootup in Safe mode where your resolution is locked.

One other question. Is this only affecting your browser window or are your applications such as Word also no longer the proper width?

^^ Thanks for staying with me on this.

I know, from the back of the netbook I have a Aspire One D250

I got as far as this http://support.acer-...s_one_D250.html

then went week at the knees not know exactly which one was the latest 'video driver'.

As for other applications ... Microsoft Work looks and works fine ... just the web pages present a issue.

.

Another point to save you looking on the web for drivers. Have you got the driver CD that came with the computer? That will have everything on that you need. It should also auto run when you insert the CD.

I'd try that first if you have it in case there has been a problem on shut down / boot up or you have clicked something along the way to upset the system :)

I tried to look at the drivers from pattayadingo's suggestion, but without success.

What I did do was to go to the Intel site and asked to to automatically look at my computer through their Active-X control and it discovered ...

Automatically identify and find drivers

The Intel® Driver Update Utility keeps your system up-to-date. It detects which driver updates are relevant to your computer and then helps you install them quickly and easily.

Product Detected

Mobile Intel® 945 Express Chipset Family

Current Driver Installed

8.15.10.1825

Your driver is current.

So can it be current ... but corrupted?

Also, it's a netbook so there is no CD driver ... SSD.

Next suggestion?

You could try disabling or uninstalling your drivers through the device manager, reboot and it should re-install them automatically. You could also go back to the Acer site that you posted earlier and download the VGA drivers.

As said earlier, do you have a driver disk that came with the computer?

That model has the system restore/drivers on a hidden partition which often you find on Aspires.
