(New?) Chinese Restaurant In Pattaya: Ting-Tai-Fu Off 3Rd Road North

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

As "authentic" Chinese restaurants are so rare in Pattaya, I thought this place was interesting and important enough to merit it's own thread.

I just "found" it tonight online; I have not been there.

So at this point, I want to get the word out and encourage people to check it out, and start the reports!

Also if YOU have been there, time to spill the beans.

The info I do have is that it is the same owners as a well regarded place in Bangkok Chinatown. There was a Bangkok Sukhumwit location now closed. They have some menu items of definite interest: homemade noodle dishes with beef stew, Xialongpao (Shanghai soup dumplings), ma po tofu, a Sechuan looking green beans dish, other dumplings, etc.

Here are some links. I don't know yet whether they have an English menu and I don't know the business hours either. Let's find out!

Translated from the Japanese:

Recommended restaurants NO.1 AKG fiscal 2012

have a Chinese restaurant, which opened last month you made the right about 100 meters from Pattaya 3rd Road enters the road north TING-TAI-<deleted> ** Ding ** <deleted> Tai. "Small basket parcel" (Shouronpou) is super delicious. DING-TAI-FUN and the famous Ding Tai Political similar character, but "small basket parcel" is said in (Shouronpou) as one of the world's 10 major restaurant, or disciple? Or copy? I do not know, in a famous shop in Bangkok is likely to have been introduced on TV many times. Many celebrities and royal family seems to have visited. Pattaya branch that it will be found the taste is top-notch. I think the surprise is going to be full stomach enough in its price 1,000 yen, not just one taste. Introducing some of the menu. The photograph is one of 100 baht one left, the menu of this restaurant signboard spicy pork stew. There is no only with unspeakable delicious anyway. What photo left two coconut milk pudding Mango pudding, mango-flavored? AKG sweet tooth is very classy and involuntarily refills have cost. It is not something I am happy small basket parcel of menu signage, jammed full of gravy, three from the left side of the photo is referred to as 100 baht 10 baht, yet one in ten.I've asked 30 souvenir involuntarily. As well as a souvenir, as well as posting the most recommended, is this year's triple crown. Mabo tofu favorite AKG, 4 left menu picture is everywhere, there is also here. If I do not have classic. Kana was 90 baht? I wonder why it has suddenly left 5 Stir fry broccoli, so this is the store is delicious anyway, unlike in the super-powerful firepower. I hot to the core to keep the freshness of the vegetables and green people. I go completely addicted to shit. It was also delicious fried lettuce. 6 dishes left in the photo is the name? I forgot. I eat homemade noodles and mix with a little bit Karamiso mayonnaise. The waist is good homemade homemade noodles anyway. In the evening I am already fully booked every day. Go to lunch is also open during the day so I could be better. 033 has become oh yeah, 038 is the area code of Pattaya had. There is no guide I Japanese Korean Russian and Thai and then. I don't care what language the website is in. That Japanese reviewer was CLEARLY highly recommending it.

Now I found another link with MANY MANY pictures of their food from Bangkok.

If this is for real, same food in Pattaya, and really open, this is a HUGE thing for the Pattaya Chinese food scene.

Check out this food slide show. Amazing.

https://foursquare.c...645c9b6d4bda6e0

BTW, in the picture their noodle man is making hand-pulled noodles.

I can easily tell from the pictures if the same menu, there is nothing else in Pattaya like it having this range of dishes, many not for sale in town, and at fair prices too, not even close. I hope this isn't a hallucination about a Pattaya location.

Also, pictured is the menu with English.

If you don't like Chinese food, fine. Yes, it is by far my favorite.

The mapo-tofu looks good...is that yoko ono... If she comes all the way to bangkok to eat there, the food must be good!

Food porn central here!

Now a video --

That soupy dish with large pork meatballs (6:52) has got to be the Chinese classic: Lion's Head with Cabbage.

The chicken dish appears to be cold Shanghai chicken marinated in rice wine. Pao was doing that with chicken wings, but this looks more like sliced meat (in my view, better).

Again, if this turns out to be for real (in Pattaya) this is not only worth it's own thread it's downright historic in terms of Chinese food coming to Pattaya. Hiso hotels with 1500 portions of snowfish don't count in my book. This kind of place is the real thing.

Again, assuming this is for real, if you've only ever been exposed to is so called "UK style Chinese" you might be in for a big treat. Plus: they have egg rolls / pancake rolls, whatever you want to call them!

You really are like a broken record. Give us a break.

The ignore function is your friend. Anyway, too bad, I guess you won't be interested in yet ANOTHER new Chinese restaurant report I will add to the Hit and Run restaurant review thread! coffee1.gif

Oh please yes, or even better, open yet another thread describing a resto you haven't actually been to and tell us all how 'authentic' you think it is, and whether you think 'the masses' will like it or not.

Honestly, the location of this Chinese restaurant is very inconvenient for me. I will make it there but it may take some time. Based on the media I have presented of the Bangkok version of the same business, it certainly looks very authentic and yes I do know what authentic Chinese food looks like. Obviously you can't taste images. Can't argue with that!

Yes, of course, I DO think the existence of a restaurant like this in Pattaya is legitimately major news to the people who DO care about good food in town. For example, if it was discovered that there was a new Mexican restaurant in town and the media reviews and videos showed an appearance of food and dishes appearing to be like an actual authentic Mexican restaurant (we have none like that in Pattaya) that too would be major food news, worthy of sharing, whether the poster had a chance to taste the food yet or not.

As to the location, that map shows it being in what appears to be an undeveloped field of trees somewhere behind 3rd Road up towards North Pattaya Road...so it may not be too accurate, unless the lot has been developed since the map data was generated. Might be best to get a phone number and call them for the exact address. This should probably be done while in a song tow or motocye so the phone child be handed off to the driver.

I would be interested on a report on this place as the mapo tofu looks really good and that is one of my fav Chinese food dishes.

I still haven't been there.

I know. I know. That's a scandal.

Anyone who goes there can you confirm that the MAP in the Facebook link is accurate or if not, can you offer tips on finding the place, assuming it really exists?

If it's the map on the Bing link you posted then I drove down that road today and it doesn't exist.

Maybe a call to the Bangkok branch would get the correct location?

That was what I was afraid of. That map looks like the place might be in a black hole. You drove down what road? Sukhumwit 32?

Yes, traffic on North Rd. was tailed back as far as BHP so I dove down 32 parallel to it. But looking at the map again it could be located in a soi off 32?

If so they must be targetting only Chinese tour groups as that area is wilderness.

Also with that location I reckon the place might be getting packed for dinner (as noted on the Japanese review). It's kind of funny isn't it, that we hear about this MAJOR NEW place (culinarily speaking) on Thaivisa only because of a random freakish google search I did rather than the mainstream English language Pattaya press?

If you do and you can't get a table, you almost can't go wrong with any of the Korean restaurants on that part of 3rd road instead.

.

Cryptic! Gotta love it. The plot thickens.

You know, I posted a few words on how I have passed this restaurant several times and then keep forgetting about it.

This first time I passed, in October, I noticed Szechuan on a sign and did a double take.

Then when I re-read the thread, I thought I was wrong and you's were talking about somewhere totally different so deleted comments.

So if it is this place (on the right hand side of third road when heading north, just past the flyover) its still on my to do list, but each time I have passed lately its looked busy, which is a good sign.

Thanks for that. I reckon a lot of Thais especially Thai-Chinese would know about this place from its reputation in Bangkok. So busy it would be. Edited by Jingthing

Its now on the map.

Actually on 3rd road.

That location would make A LOT more sense!

From where the hell is it .... to a massively easy to describe prominent location.

https://maps.google....000cbece5&msa=0

I think I owe you a free Xialongbao!

(Assuming it is REALLY there.)

From what I can see, you guys have it all confused.

The restaurant appears to be on North Pattaya Road, about 100 meters east of Third Road on the north side. Jinthing, you will be pleased, I reckon, that it is on a baht bus route.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I think you are wrong and are referring to Jua Lee Chinese which has been here for DECADES and offers standard predictable (boring) Thai Chinese food, not hard to find in Pattaya, nothing like the offerings at Ting-Tai-<deleted> (CHINESE Chinese).

Ok. You're right, the link you're giving is for Jua Lee.

Where is Ting-Tai-<deleted> located?

Edit: I think I know where it is from re-reading everything. I'll go to look for it when I get a chance.

Hi guys,

where its marked on the map is accurate, there is an alley at the side with parking behind, the sign is small,

look for the guys in white in the window pulling noodles.

Its about 200 yards before north road on the left as you go north, yes there are many Korean places around

this area.

There is seating for about 40 pax and it is quite busy. They have plenty of staff, not like Pao's, so service is quick.

Good luck.
