Saiyok elephant village in Kanchanaburi received new female baby elephant

Saiyok (ไทรโยค) elephant village in Kanjanaburi Province has received one new member, a female baby elephant, yesterday (Feb. 20th).

Nong Pop (น้องป๊อป), the 27-year-old mother elephant at the elephant village in Saiyok district in Kanjanaburi, gave birth the night before to a female baby elephant that weighed 100 kilograms. The newborn has been named "Kumpha" (กุมภา), or February, and is in good health.

Winai Saengdee (วินัย แสงดี), the owner of the elephant village, said that last year, eight elephants were born at the establishment.

Kumpha will be staying with her mother for about a year until she is strong enough to be trained to perform for tourists who come to the elephant village.
