Looking For A Blackberry-Savvy Shop

Featured Replies

I have an old blackberry 9000 from England which I had unlocked there and am looking for a shop here to check if it's working and if not tell me what is needed - maybe a new battery. A couple of shops I asked in Airport Plaza and KSK were unable to do this. Apparently there isn't an official Blackberry 'service centre' here. Can anyone recommend a specific shop?

I have great service from the boys at Pantip Plaza. same level as Fuji and close to that . It's a big shop selling all sorts of electronics...the guys there were incredible in recovering my info and troubleshooting

You'll need to update to OS5 and to use the BB with a DTAC or TRUE-H SIM with a BIS add on. HAPPY/DTAC have a Blackberry SIM for 77 baht which comes with a week of access.

You can update it yourself if the BB is running OS 4.6 and you have a computer here.

Updates are here

Download and install the BB Desktop software, download and install the Update to the PC and then connect the phone via USB. When recognised, you will get an option to install the Update to the phone.

Battery is an M-S1. Available for as little as £3.

Thank you very much for all three replies. Putting them together with my total lack of proficiency, I shall first seek out the Pantip shop to diagnose the problem, ie whether it can be properly set up, and maybe they'll check the OS too; then I'll buy the sim and look for the M-S1 battery if available (I was quoted 450 baht for a replacement battery - rather more than £3, but that little bit more doesn't matter).

Went to Pantip and put in a new battery. Couldn't find the shop you had in mind. I asked around in some 4/5 shops around Fuji but none were of any help. Wish you were able to recall something that might give me a more specific clue. And I was wondering how long ago you went to the shop.

JJ, I appreciate your setting out the process for me - including the download site. But as I indicated I'm not at all confident with the technicalities of this, and while I could try to go through the steps you set out I really would have no understanding of what each step signified and what to do if I ran into a hitch at any point. To cite an immediate hitch I tried a moment ago to charge the (new, genuine blackberry) battery that I bought today - and it won't charge; and the phone is asking me questions I don't understand the meaning of! So I really have to find someone to do all this for me.

(PS. I live here and of course do have my laptop here; I took this blackberry off my nephew in London who, having moved on to newer models, had no use for this one!)

G'day triffid...I was there just in late Sep. So sorry to hear that it didnt go down well as I know sometimes technology can frustrate rather than assist.

Ok, LawrenceC; I guess you can't recall the name or anything more about the shop to help me find it.
