Getting A New Multiple Entry 'o' Mariage Visa

Featured Replies

I am currently on the last 3 months of a non immigrant 'o' marriage visa.

It is valid until 3 februari.

My first choice was to get a 1 year from immigration but i would like to get a new multiple entry because in the coming year i have to travel to my home country frequently between August and December.

A multiple entry seems the easiest for that.

Can i get one of these countries(in order of preference).

Hong Kong (China)

Malaysia

Vietnam

Laos

any other....

Savannakhet. Laos with no bank balance being needed.

KL Malaysia if you show 100,000 Baht in the bank.

You can always get the 12 Month Extension from Immigration and get a Multi Re Entry Permit (3,800 Baht).

This would enable you to come and go as you please.

You can make one more border run just before visa expires and get another 90 day entry.

The only nearby locations for the visa is Savannakhet Laos (no financial proof) or KL Malaysia (100K in bank).

You can get a multiple re-entry permit (3800 baht ) from immigration if you get a 1 year extension of stay (not a visa) which would allow you to make as many trips as want.

If you leave the country you do not need to make 90 reports until you are back the country for 90 days.

Thanks LB.

Of course after i made my post i found a few post about getting multiple entries.

I was under the impression (from those posts and from personal experience almost 2 years ago) that getting a multiple in Laos is difficult if not impossible.

That time in Laos i had all the documents and a new passport but got only a single.

The extra reason i forgot to write in the op is that i would like to travel together with my wife to one of those countries on a holiday, maybe next week or short thereafter, so before the expire date of 3 February if that makes a difference in my options..

For malaysia, is that 100k required to be in an account on my name only, and on a bank in my own country or in Thailand.

We have more than enough on a shared account, and also more on an account from my wife both in

Thailand. (going by bankstatements alone it is almost that my wife supports me, smile.pngsmile.pngsmile.png.

Thanks ubon Joe for confirming LB.

To clarify i am on the last 90 days entry. My multiple 'o' was valid until november last year.

Thai bank is best and could be a joint account for the 100K. Some reports of home country bank statement being used.

Savannakhet are doing multiple entry visas. Many reports of this for over a year now.

I read your post as your visa was expiring not your permit to stay.

Always good to have wife along. My wife always enjoyed our trips to Laos.

Interesting. Last year I got this visa in Singapore, but I heard they've changed it and one can't get the Singapore one anymore?! Singapore also had a bank balance requirement, can't remember how much.

Might depend on if you applied for a single and a multiple and on if you are a resident in Singapore or not.

Sorry to intrude on the thread but my situation is similar: My UK granted Multi-Entry Non-Imm. O expires August..if I go to Immigration before the expiry date I can get a 1 year extension and pay 3.800 for a Multi Re-entry permit? So no need for a Visa renewal for another year, is this correct?

On the extension do I need to report to Immigration(90 days) or do border runs? Seems like a peach of a deal rather than getting a new visa.

Thanks in advance.

Yes, you can get the 1 year extension (if you qualify), for 1,900 baht and the multiplere-entry permit for 3,800 baht to travel outside of Thailand and come back again.

With the extension you would not need to do border runs, you would make 90 day reports instead. (If you stay for 90 days in a row in Thailand).

Last year I got a multiple entry Non-O and no, I am not a resident of Singapore. I am a European trying to avoid having to go back to Europe for a new 1 year multiple entry non-o.

I suppose I could try for the 1 year extension. The only problem last time I did this was that it took months to get (4 or 5) and I was on a temporary status during that time, not permitted to travel. I am not sure what the situation looks like now - how long does this application take to go through and is one permitted to travel while it's being processed?

An extension based on a Thai spouse normally takes 30 days. Last year was exceptional because of the floodings in Bangkok.Decisions for an extension based on marriage are made by a comittee, but becaue of the floods the comittee could not meet for a long time, resulting in a big pile up of applications. Things should now be bck to normal.

You are permitted to travel during the consideration period, with a re-entry permit. But must be back in Thailand on date the tell you to get the final approval.

For the multiple non-O I would go to Savanakhet in Laos.

^ thanks great info. Checking about status of Singapore in the Singapore thread, mostly because I can fly to Singapore from Chiang Mai and the wife is always very, very happy to go there. I love Laos but the wife... not so much! tongue.png Savannakhet looks like a long ways away from here.

KL have been happy to accept a print out from my Australian bank several times

Thanks Mario2008 , I appreciate the info. Should qualify I hope, married nearly 5 years, 2 houses, funded Thai a/c.

Were the extension not to be granted a holiday wouldn't be the end of the world, would love to visit KL and so would the Mrs.

The decision is made, savanakhet it will be.

My wife comes from Ubon and we will travel there by car or train. From there on to Mukdahan by bus.

No problem to do the crossing to Savanakhet on a sunday (The day my 90 days expires) or is this border very busy and another day would be better?

Any tips for a good accommodation close to the Embassy, or one that arranges transport to and from the embassy/border?

Savan Vegas will pick you up in Mukdahan and take you to their hotel.

Looks like they might even pick up from Ubon.

They will even go to the Thai Consulate while you and your Wife stay in the hotel and have a gamble in the casino.

The Consulate will be closed on Sundays.

Sunday will be fine. Returning on Sunday would be busy but not entering.

You can get the bus to Savannakhet at the bus station in Mukdahan. Bridge is a ways out of town and it is the same bus that you would use to cross bridge and travel into town.
