Pattaya Stuck With Stinking Koh Larn Garbage

PATTAYA:--Garbage has been piling up on the shores of Koh Larn because Pattaya city officials say they have no place to dump it. The resort island generates an estimated 3-5 tons of garbage daily. Pattaya city officials met to discuss the problem because tourists and locals are complaining about the stinking mess.

PATTAYA – January 10, 2013 [PDN]; at 1:30 p.m., a meeting was held by Pattaya Administration officials to look for solutions to the problem of accumulating garbage on Koh Larn island.

Attending the meeting were Mr. Pakorn Sukonthachart, the Administrative Assistant of Pattaya; Mr. Sanit Boonmachai, the Deputy Chairman of Pattaya council; and the representatives from all related organizations.

Many tourists and Koh Larn residents have been complaining to officials about the accumulated garbage in Koh Larn, Mr. Sanit said. Currently there is no means to dispose or transport all the stored garbage, which is reaching unacceptable levels, he said.

No one pointing at the garbage? "We dont know what to do with it!" Its hurting our reputation! We need more officials!

Hey, that photo of the meeting could be one of the thousands of meetings that take place.

I think they should just dump it in the sea, then after it washes up on the Pattaya beaches, have another meeting, and hope it goes away.
