Top ITN reporter Dan Rivers has been appointed CNN’s Bangkok Correspondent. Based in Thailand he will report from the region for all of the news organization’s services including CNN International and CNN/U.S.

Currently based in London, Rivers has extensive international experience having covered the initial phases of the war in Iraq, the Asia Tsunami and the break up of Yugoslavia. Prior to joining ITN he was based in France as a reporter for EuroNews.

“Dan has a formidable track record as a correspondent”, said Tony Maddox, senior vice president CNN International newsgathering. From his forensic coverage of the July 7 bombings in London, his coverage of the Asian Tsunami and his exhaustive reporting of the Hutton Inquiry he shows a depth of talent that CNN is proud to have on board.”

This appointment underscores CNN’s commitment to both the region and to international newsgathering. Managed from CNN’s Asia news hub in Hong Kong, Rivers will cover both news and business stories from across the region as well as breaking news.

Lucky fellow :o

I hope he will NOT have anything interesting to report on. CNN and other similar news outlets only thrive on people's misery -- positive developments never make the news.
