January 14, 201313 yr As stated, I am looking to buy a Kindle in Chiang Mai, either new or second-hand depending what options I find. I already looked around Pantip Plaza and found nothing at all. The only thing I got out of the experience was that Thais seem to call them "ebooks". Does anyone know where they sell these new or used in Chiang Mai, or does anyone have one for sale? On that note, I am making a short trip to Bangkok tomorrow so if anyone can recommend where to get them there, that would also be useful! Thanks for any help!
January 14, 201313 yr if pantip dont have them ,i would try fortune tower and then MBK in that order take a skytrain from pantip and exchange with MRT and get out at (rama 9 station ) fortune will be on your left when exit the MRT go upstairs ,technology is on the 2-3-4th floors ,if they dont have it then go back to the MRT and go back a couple stations , change to bts and get out in MBK (national stadium exit 4 ) someone in MBK is bound to be importing theseand bypassing the thai luxury goods taxes ,you just gotta find him and haggle to get one for a reasonable price if they can import thousands of the latest phones and ipads and sell them for 8000 less than the official thai price ,im sure a kindle is not out of their reach if you get one ,come back and tell us price if possible ,i might buy one myself but i havent time right now to go looking for it get a card or keep his phone number and you can maybe haggle a discount by selling a few more for him as always in MBK ,there are fake everything so check the machine is a real kindle thoroughly in front of him and all features work before paying and that its not a chinese copy that has no or hacked internal memory or important features EVEN IF ITS WRAPPED IN CELLOPHANE which they cut open in front of you ,great trick that gets almost everyone fake samsung gs3 is there for 5500-6000 and it takes a pretty close inspection to spot the camaera is sub-par and the phone isnt as fast as it should be but it looks fairly identical and even the software has been copied so it looks like the real S3 when they turn it on , many people have been conned into buying fake ipads for nearly the normal apple price which are just chinese junk and ive never had a fake rolex watch last longer than a couple of months including perpetual motion models which alledgedly can never stop so avoid the fake crap for sure
January 15, 201313 yr Author Ya, I'll try to make it to Pantip in BKK if I have time. I checked the pathetic one in CM without luck. We'll see how it goes from there and I'll try to post my results here.
January 19, 201313 yr I actually am trying to sell one of two Kindles: First, a Kindle Keyboard 3G. It's been well-used, but still entirely functional, with a genuine Amazon lighted cover. The 3G is unlimited, usable throughout Thailand. You can download books, access wikipedia, and browse the web. The second is a new Paperwhite in perfect condition. It's virtually never been used. There's one major catch to it: It's not registerable to the Amazon store. You can load your own mobi books, PDFs, and more on it, but you can't purchase from Amazon or use DRM-restricted files. I've removed the DRM from my Kindle books, so it's not a big problem but it's unhandy. I bought it from a seller who failed to tell me that it was blocked from Amazon; I tried to return it, but couldn't get it back to the States in time. There is nothing else wrong with it, but I understand if that's a deal-breaker. Let me know if you're interested!
January 26, 201313 yr Kindle Paperwhite is now available to order from Amazon International Shipping time to Chaing Mai about 5 days
