Okay long story short, my X girlfriend stole my blue book out of my car and is now claiming that the car is in her name and will not give the car back to me.

Is it possible for someone to take your blue book, use copies of your passport and put the car in their name without me the real owner being present?

No, she could not claim the owner of the car as long as the car is in your name. For her to stole the blue book from you (to change her name in the blue book) she would need your signature. You could go to the transportation department to ask for a new blue book. Any questions please do not hesitate to pm me. Good Luck :)

I was under the impression that both people have to be present in order to change the name and that the car would be inspected

If all someone needs is a signature than maybe she forged my signature.

The signature isn't a ploblem. There are lots of artist's out there. I've seen once a 19 years old office lady, signing for her boss some papers.

"He forget, but want it done, when he back'. She tried 20 minutes, looked very good to me.

In case, she knows someone at the transportation department, it might be possible, also.

But I would assume, she would show up with the BiB's, if the name change was already done!

Has she had a chance, to get a copy of the visa page, in your passport? Name change can be made this copy way only, if the owner is on a valid visa and legal in Thailand.

And in case, the department has a copy of it

Strange way of saying that your ex has stolen your car.

If your ex back home stole your car back home, would you go the the vehicle licensing people or an internet forum first?

If you have copies of the blue book, insurance and all other bits of paper that prove it is yours, wouldn't the local police be the logical first call?

However, if some time has already elapsed since this GTA, then maybe Spoonman is probably right. She's gone.

She does not have the car, yet. Only the registration book.

She's trying to steal the car!

(Or is she already having it?)

But you are right with one thing. OP should go to the police, and report this.

Anyway!

There is only one little ploblem: The exgf is Thai, methinks

From the OP...

Possession, nine-tenths and all that.

For the OP: without appearing crass, how much do you realistically consider you owe her?

Hi:

You NO need to bring all the times The Blue Book with you.

In Thailand you can drive everywhere just with a Photocpopy of the book.

Only will ask the original one to make Papper Work or cross the Thai Border.

You need the original book in order to get your annual road tax.

For a lost or stolen book, task one - police report, task 2 - land transport office for new book.

Todo Papper Work it´s mean to get the annual Road Tax, too.
