T_Dog
Yeah, people are swiping their 3G phones in a connected world and a few kilometers away a hunter is waiting for his charge to go off after pulling the trigger on his flint lock. Thailand is certainly the center of extremes!

Ron19
Update I don't know what brew he used this time but here is one taken of the same spot less than 24 hours after. He must have been more careful this time as there is no obvious damage to the Cha-Om. I would say he mixed Gramoxone with the Round up.... he has two bottles in the first image.... Gramoxone is better on annual weeds as it kills back, as you see over night... Seeds will pop on annual weeds if only Roundup used! .... many people don't "get that" The perennial weeds /grass still needs a good 10 days for Round up to trans-locate and kill the roots...... so hope he does not disturb the soil before then ... Good to see the sprayer is not sending out a fine mist and he has his wellies on!

Good to see the sprayer is not sending out a fine mist and he has his wellies on! Have since found what was used and it is a mixture 50/50 of the two shown but have no idea of the strength. I spent a number of years working on and around farms in Australia and one of the things I remember is that it is important to apply any sprays for obnoxious weeds (or any weed for that matter) before seeds are set. Thai farmers don't seem to worry about and that is one of the reasons that they are forever spraying to kill weeds. He must have been using a different head on the spray unit which fortunatley reduced the amount of overspray. As well as the wellies,he also wore a hat and used a facemask but one of the things that amazed me was that he never used gloves when spraying or refilling the spray unit.Never noticed him washing his hands afterwards each time.It is clearly marked on the containers what precautions should be taken.

Out of likes Ron ^ .... Yes the concept of cutting back weeds with flower heads or seed heads is a hard one for people to understand.... not just Thai's .... I might add... Gramoxone has no antidote which is why it's banned in the west.... perhaps other reasons, I am note sure! Well at least your man, had sense enough to use a mask.... many don't!

This morning with the aid of some coffee and a set of fresh eyes I succeeded. Fisherman's long boats moored up.

Popular Post Ron19
Do you and your wife grow all these vegetables and fruit for a small market , do you make a bit of beer money or is there more than that requiring family and friends to partake ? Sorry if this is embarrassing to you mate . Very little is sold, most of it is given away to friends and family and for our own use of course. This will change to some degree when the bananas we have planted bear fruit.I have planted quite a lot of lemon grass which will be sold but there isn't a lot of money to be made from that. It was never intended to be a money making exercise and not a lot of money has been spent on what we have done to date. To be completely honest with you from my side of it,I am doing what I do to keep active to some degree and also to relieve boredom rather than sit on a computer all day. That is why I do all the digging by hand rather than get a machine or some person in to do what I do.You notice that we had someone in to do some spraying, that was done because we don't have the required spray unit. Don't be worried that it could be embarrassing,I enjoy what I am doing and talking about it it with like minded people such as yourself, not embarrassing at all.

Popular Post samuijimmy
You guys are chatty today.... My friends from Songkhla phoned today ... they were happy to have received half their payment for rice.... ..... they don't know when the rest will come Frog farming, ... my friends here on Samui tried that.... the idea did not last long, too noisy at night!.... ...not some thing to try close to the house! .... Fish farming is a lot quieter, the frog pond was converted quite quickly! I was looking for an image of how they use the trays for chillies... like Shaggy, with his .... I cannot find! So a Songkhla Rice field and hibiscus will have to do!!!
Popular Post scunner
Hopefully, I've attached an image of some chilli seedlings I've put into my (very small) back garden veg patch (plants on the left are dwarf french runner beans), with a favourable summer, I'll get quite a good crop off these...just used the last of the dried ones from last year in a curry tonight
